The “IV Encuentro sobre Dendrímeros” (EDEN 4, Fourth Spanish Dendrimer Meeting) will be held in Santiago de Compostela on January 23rd-24th, 2014. The aim of EDEN 4 is to bring together the dendrimer community with Spanish research groups to share recent advances in the field and promote stronger collaborations. EDEN 4 is a continuation of previous successful meetings in Alcalá de Henares, Barcelona and Ciudad Real. In line with this tradition, the participation of young researchers is highly encouraged at EDEN 4.

Dendrimers are synthetic tree-like macromolecules composed of repetitive layers of branching units that are prepared in a controlled iterative fashion through generations with precise molecular weight and discrete properties. Their globular architecture and size in the nanometer scale render dendrimers attractive for many applications in the fields of catalysis, materials and nanomedicine.

Santiago de Compostela being the focal point of the ancient “dendritic” pilgrimage Way of St. James, means the town should serve as the perfect environment for scientific exchange among researchers attending the meeting. EDEN 4 will take place at the Center for Research in Biological Chemistry and Molecular Materials (CIQUS), University of Santiago de Compostela, which is very close to Santiago’s town center.

We look forward to seeing you in Santiago de Compostela.
