The purpose of the Interlibrary Loan and Document Access Service is to provide access to library collections, especially to those documents that are not available for purchase on the bibliographic market.

The management of the Interlibrary Loan and Document Access Service is centralised in the General Library, and performs its functions taking into account the Intellectual Property Legislation, as well as the Rebiun Agreements and the IFLA Procedural Guidelines. This service carries out two main tasks:

  • Obtaining documents that do not exist in the BUSC collections, either in original format (usually books) or through digital reproductions.
  • Providing existing documents in the BUSC collections to other libraries.
