María José Alonso, enter the US National Academy of Medicine as International Member

María José Alonso, Professor of Biopharmaceutics and Pharmaceutical Technology at the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC), has entered United States of America National Academy of Medicine (NAM) as International Member. According to the words of the President of the Academy, “Prof. Alonso was elected because has pioneered the development of nanotechnologies that help complex therapeutic molecules to overcome biological barriers. These nanomedicines have been assessed, at the preclinical and clinical level, for the treatment of varisou pathologies, as well as for vaccination”. The induction ceremony of Professor Alonso took place las saturday, October 14, during the 47th Annual Meeting of the Academy in Washington D.C.

María José Alonso, Professor of Biopharmaceutics and Pharmaceutical Technology at the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC), has been elected President of the Controlled Release Society, Inc. (CRS, Inc), the worldwide leading organization whose goal is to promote and foster delivery sciences and technologies. This is a new recognition of the outstanding career of Professor Alonso by international scientific institutions, after her election to the US National Academy of Medicine in 2016 and to the prestigious College of Fellows of the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering’s (AIMBE) in 2017.

The College of Fellows of the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering (AIMBE) consists of over 1,500 individuals who are the outstanding leaders, engineers, entrepreneurs, and innovators in medical and biological engineering. They represent the top 2% of the medical and biological engineering community
