ERC Starting Grant awarded to Saray Busto for the project SUPREMUM

The research project SUPREMUM (StrUcture PREserving Methods on Unstructured grids for continuum Mechanics), led by Saray Busto Ulloa, has been recognised with one of the prestigius Starting Grants from the European Research council (ERC). The project aims to develop and theoretically analyze innovative structure-preserving numerical methods to solve challenging non-linear hyperbolic partial differential equations modelling continuum mechanics. Its ultimate groundbreaking goal is to devise the first existing numerical methods simultaneously verifying, at the discrete level, all structural properties of the continuous models: provable thermodynamical compatibility, conservation of equilibrium solutions, verification of natural involution constraints, and preservation of the asymptotic limits. Fundamental progress in practical applications will initially target the design of a novel methodology for the simulation of entire cardiovascular systems. The research conducted within SUPREMUM seeks to advance scientific excellence while fostering the growth of young researchers in the field.
New PhD and postdoctoral positions will be created in the framework of SUPREMUM. For further information, please contact saray.busto.ulloa@usc.es
