From binge drinking to alcoholism: a case-control study

Objectives: 1) To determine the effect of binge drinking during adolescence and youth on the diagnosis of
alcoholism in early adulthood; 2) Determine the neuropsychological profile of adults with alcoholism in relation
to the characteristics of their consumption pattern during adolescence and youth.
Method: A case-control study will be carried out, the cases being subjects diagnosed
with alcoholism between 25 and 39 years.  The frequency, quantity and pattern of alcohol consumption of the subjects during adolescence and
youth will be determined. Attention bias to alcohol; emotional memory; general cognitive state and premorbid IQ; impulsivity; emotional regulation; and psychopathological symptomatology will be evaluated.
