A BRIEF HISTORY OF THE JTMC
The Workshop on Celestial Mechanics (JTMC is the Spanish acronym) was an initiative of the Grupo de Mecánica Espacial from the Universidad de Zaragoza. It is an important element of the Spanish scientific scene where different groups that work in Astrodynamics share a meeting point.
The current edition will be the twentieth. The Workshop has been celebrated annually since 1998 until 2008, biennially from 2012 to 2016, and again anually since 2017, each edition organized by a different university or investigation group on Celestial Mechanics. Unfortunately, the pandemic prevented us to celebrate the 2020 edition in Sanxenxo, which we will pick up this year.
Over time, different groups have gradually joined the Workshop. We expect that almost all who do research in Astrodynamics in Spain will participate in the meetings. Our aim is to develop this participation into a strong, effective research network. Finally, in order to promote international awareness, we have included foreign experts to participate in plenary conferences and communications.
OBJECTIVES
The main objective of this event remains the same since its inception. It is to bring different and diverse research groups into contact. During the Workshop, speakers will present their own research lines and discuss, critique, and contribute in a constructive manner that may lead to collaborative projects for the future. Young investigators will be able to take advantage of a forum with experts where they present their original work.
As in recent years, Proceedings will not be published but a useful compilation of Abstracts will be made available.
In order to address our objective of attracting young researchers, we have introduced some new elements in this edition that we hope they find interesting.
