International Meeting: "N²: Networking between Networks

Last 17th of December was celebrated the International Meeting "N2: Networking between Networks" in the CEA Building.
Relevant actors of the academic and industry worlds came to Santiago to discuss and debate together about the dynamics and purposes of the interaction between collaborative networks. The purpose was elaborate a fruitful debate, is to nurture and/or strengthen synergies in order to save the still existing gap(s) and challenges in translational research transfer. We believe that the "N2" event were a unique opportunity to connect and learn from each other, sharing different experiences coming from different networks. A great opportunity to express our respective visions and goals, identify strategic steps and propose relevant actions accordingly.

Professor of Pharmacology at the University of Santiago de Compostela. Head of BioFarma pharmacology research group at the University of Santiago de Compostela. Active participation in the development of 14 NCE that have reached clinical trials in the specific programmes of R&D transfer in drug development of different pharmaceutical companies. Leader in the field of Early Drug Discovery at Spanish and European levels, endorsed by the participation in more than 100 research programs, 89 of them as principal investigator, founded by public and private institutions such as the Regional Galician Government, "La Marató de TV3" Foundation, the Spanish Government and the European Union (10 in total: TESEMED I and II, INFOPHARMA, GALA, LINK3D, DIOMED (Sudoe Interreg programme), EU-ADR, CHAPRION (Horizon 2020) and Open PHACTS (IMI 7th Framework Program, that has been selected as one of the most successful IMI programs for further continuation).

EU-OPENSCREEN DRIVE Transnational Access Calls 

EU-OPENSCREEN offers 23 fully funded research projects in the areas of chemoproteomics, small molecule screening and medicinal chemistry. Eligible proposals will be evaluated by external reviewers, and successful applicants will be selected in an open and transparent process.Transnational access comprises a total of 6 chemoproteomics, 12 small molecule screening and 5 medicinal chemistry projects. The European Commission only allows transnational access, meaning that users are not eligible to get access to a facility that is located in their home country.

Dr. Joaquín Dopazo (Head of the Bioinformatics group, CIBERER) spoke about La larga vida del dato genómico. Uso y reutilización dentro del sistema de salud last thursday 31st of January at 12:30 in the seminar organized by REGID.
Dr. Joaquin Dopazo is the Head of the Clinical Bioinformatics Area, FPS, Sevilla, Spain. He has a BSc in Chemistry and a PhD in Biology (Universitat de Valencia, 1989). He was previously leading Bioinformatics teams at the CNIO (Madrid, Spain) and Glaxo Wellcome (Madrid, Spain), as well as in some other private and academic institutions. He has published more than 270 papers in international peer-reviewed journals. His interests revolve around functional genomics, genome analysis and systems biology with special stress on clinic and traslational applications. Dr. Dopazo has supervised some of the largest and most cited resources for genomic data analysis over the web ( https://www.babelomics.org).

VIII Spanish Discovery Network Meeting. 

Last 3rd and 4th of November was celebrated in Santiago de Compostela (The City of Culture) the VIII Spanish Discovery Network Meeting, a forum that met drugs researchers to discuss about the vanguard in the Chemichal Quemistry, the discovery of new drugs and the translational medical research.
The researcher group Biofarma had a strong presence in the meeting. Mabel Loza, coordinator of the group, participates in the scientist committee and emphasized the importance of that meeting.
Angel Carracedo, Innopharma Coordinator with Mabel Loza, was one of the moderators in the seminars. The VII Spanish Drug Discovery Networs Meeting finished with a visit to Biofarma infrastructure
Marta Cimadevila, Alba Iglesias and Alejandro González from Biofarma Group participated in the meeting.
