Miguel Vázquez López
I graduated in Chemical Sciences from the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC) in 1996. In 1999 I was awarded a predoctoral fellowship from the Fundación Segundo Gil Dávila (Spain). In 1999 I was awarded a grant from the USC for a three-months research stay at the Università degli Studi di Firence (Florence, Italy). In 2001 I obtained my PhD degree in Chemistry from the USC. In 2001 I spent five months working as postdoc at the Università degli Studi di Firence (Florence, Italy), under the supervision of Prof. Dante Gatteschi, funded with a grant from the Xunta de Galicia (Spain). In 2002 I was awarded a postdoctoral fellowship from the USC-Xunta de Galicia (Spain) to work at the Department of Inorganic Chemistry of the USC. In 2002 I was awarded a Marie Curie TMR Postdoctoral Fellowship from the European Union to work in the research group of Prof. Luigi Fabbrizzi at the Università di Pavia (Pavia, Italy), where I spent 21 months working in the research area of molecular devices (EU Research & Training Network on Molecular Devices and Machines / HPRN-CT-2000-00029) specifically in the development of chemosensors for inorganic anions and metal cations. During this period, I published 5 papers, including a Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. as first author that currently has 226 citations. In 2004 I was awarded a Parga Pondal Research Contract from the Xunta de Galicia (Spain) to work at the Department of Inorganic Chemistry of the University of Vigo. In 2006 I was awarded a Ramón y Cajal Research Contract from the Ministry of Science (Spain) to work at the Department of Inorganic Chemistry of the USC, where I started my studies in Chemical Biology. In 2005 I made a three-month research stay in the laboratory of Prof. Luigi Fabbrizzi at the Università di Pavia (Pavia, Italy) as visiting researcher, funded with a grant from the Xunta de Galicia (Spain). In 2009 I made a two-month research stay in the laboratory of Prof. Jean-Claude Bünzli at the EPFL (Lausanne, Switzerland) as visiting researcher, funded with a grant from the Xunta de Galicia (Spain). In 2019 I made a two-month research stay at Trinity College Dublin (Dublin, Ireland) as visiting professor, funded with a Salvador Madariaga grant from the Ministry of Science (Spain). In 2011 I obtained an Associate Professor permanent position (Profesor Titular de Universidad) at the Department of Inorganic Chemistry of the USC and I was also appointed as Principal Investigator at the Centro Singular de Investigación en Química Biolóxica e Materiais Moleculares (CiQUS). I am accredited as “Catedrático de Universidad” (equivalent to Full Professor) by ANECA since September 2023. Since 2006 I have obtained, uninterruptedly, funding as Principal Investigator in regional (1), national (6), international (1) and private foundations (1) competitive calls (760k € in total). Since 2011 I have supervised 7 Doctoral Theses, 13 Master Theses and 20 Final Degree Projects. I was member of the board of the ChemBio Group (RSEQ) between 2012-16. I am referee of several international journals and expert for several National and International Research Agencies. I was member of the National Panel of the Ramón y Cajal 2021 Call. I am currently member of the Academic Committee of the Master at the Frontier of Chemical Biology and Molecular Materials (CiQUS, USC) and of the Executive Committee of the USC International Doctoral School (EDIUS). I am co-author of 60 papers in JCR-indexed journals (38 Q1), and one book chapter. I have published 18 papers as corresponding author (15 Q1). My total number of citations is 1752. My H-index is 25. I have been awarded three "sexenios de investigación" (six-year research periods).
