- To know the concept of "source" for the study of the History of art.
- To know the typology and cases of the textual sources for the study of art.
- To approach to the textual sources that allow a deeper knowledge of the work of art within its historical and chronological context.
- To learn how to use the sources from the critical analysis and the interdisciplinarity point of view.
- To learn how to apply those sources to the work of art.
- To train the students to a suitable treatment of the sources, their insertion in the historic-artistic context and their use in the study and research of a work of art.
- To boost the students to the contact with other subjects related to Art History (palaeography, codicology, epigraphy, numismatics, etc.)

1) To know basic concepts of "source" for the study of the History of art.
2) Learning of the different methods for dealing with the analysis of texts and documents that contain historic-artistic, theoretical, aesthetic… information
3) To learn to use the methodological concepts from the critical analysis and the interdisciplinarity.
4) To learn how to apply those differents sources to the work of art
5) Treatment of literary texts related to the works of art that are studied in the subject, in order to provide the students with a global view of the work of art.
The alumn to be able:
CT-1 Acquisition of skills for using indispensable texts and documents for the introduction to research.
CT-2 - To learn to write and to speak on technical way.
CT-3 - To learn to use the appropriate vocabulary.
In order to facilitate and streamline the teaching of the subject using the following techniques:
-Class exhibition in which the explanation of the theoretical content will be developed. This is a classroom activity in the classroom
-Interactive class in which the activities will be practical and theoretical content related da matter.
-Will be used tools of the Virtual USC for guidelines and working classes materials practice
-Field practices in archives, libraries and relevant artistic enclaves in the city of Santiago de Compostela
- Tutoring custom.
The type of evaluation is continuous and summative:
1. EVALUATION ON THE CONTENTS OF THE EXPLANATORY CLASSES (THEORETICAL)
Examination that will entail the 60 % of the total note, 6 points. It will be obligatory to obtain a minimal note of 3 in this examination to be able to add the note of the interactive classes. The one who does not obtain this minimal note of 3 will have to take the examination in the second opportunity (July).
2 EVALUATION OF THE INTERACTIVE CLASSES.
Assistance and participation in the debates, seminars and practices proposed by the teachers and delivered in writing in the fixed period, as well as in field practices. This part will suppose 40 % of the total note, 4 points. It will be obligatory to obtain a minimal note of 2 in this part to add the note of the examination.
The pupil who does not obtain the minimal note of 2 will have to answer to a few questions of the above mentioned practices in an examination in the second opportunity (July).
This evaluation system will be used for both May session to give the second chance round (July).
3. Following the Instruction Nº 1/2017 of Secretaría Xeral, students who are exempt from attendance in certain situations will be evaluated with a specific final exam (100%). Exemption from attendance must be authorized in advance by the university.
Classwork: 50 h.
30 h. theoretical sessions, 15 h. interactive sessions, 5 h. tutorials
Homework: 100 h.
-Personal Study at home: 60 h.
-Lectures: 25 h.
-Preparation of oral presentations, seminars: 8 h.
-Others: 7 h.
Total: 100 h.
- To know basic concepts of the History of Art.
- To have studied first course of History of Art.
- This matter is closely related to 'Fundamentos teóricos de la historia del Arte' first course of History of Art (USC).
- Reading some texts on art is highly recommended.
CONTINGENCY PLAN
The teaching methodology will be adapted to the scenarios of blended teaching and non-face-to-face teaching, if necessary:
A) Contingency plan for distancing scenario with blended teaching
B) Closure scenario contingency plan with non-face-to-face teaching
The CONTENTS of the subject will be the same for all scenarios.
A) CONTINGENCY PLAN DISTANCE SCENARIO: blended teaching
Methodology:
Lectures: teaching will be telematic and the Virtual Classroom and Teams will be used. Teaching will be taught by asynchronous methods - delivery of materials in various formats (video, audio, powerpoint ...) through the virtual classroom.
For this, the following channels will be used: institutional email, USC virtual classroom and Teams, mainly
Interactive classes: they will be taught in the classroom, in person.
Evaluation system:
1. EVALUATION OF THE CONTENTS OF THE EXHIBITION CLASSES (THEORETICAL):
Final telematic test to be carried out through a virtual classroom. It will represent 60% of the total mark (6 points). It will be mandatory to get a minimum grade of 3 in this final test to be able to add to the grade of the interactive classes. Whoever does not achieve this minimum mark of 3 will have to take the second chance test of the call (Jully).
2. EVALUATION OF THE INTERACTIVE CLASSES:
Continuous evaluation of the participation in the debates, seminars, practices and works proposed by the professors and delivered in writing within the established deadlines. This part will mean 40% of the total grade (4 points). It will be mandatory to have achieved a minimum grade of 2 in this part to be able to make an average with the exam grade.
Whoever does not achieve this minimum grade of 2 will have to answer some questions about said practices in a telematic test on the second opportunity of the call (month of July).
This evaluation system will be used both for the May call and for the second chance of the call (July).
In cases of fraudulent performance of exercises or tests, the provisions of the Regulations for the evaluation of the academic performance of students and the review of grades will apply.
3. STUDENTS WITH OFFICIAL ATTENDANCE WAIVER:
Students who are granted a class attendance exemption (second to Instruction No. 1/2017 of the General Secretariat on class attendance exemption in certain circumstances), will be evaluated with a specific telematic final test that will suppose 100% of the grade.
In cases of fraudulent performance of exercises or tests, the provisions of the Regulations for the evaluation of the academic performance of students and the review of grades will apply.
B) CONTINGENCY PLAN CLOSURE SCENARIO: non-face-to-face teaching
Methodology:
Lectures: teaching will be telematic and the Virtual Classroom and Teams will be used. Teaching will be taught by asynchronous methods - delivery of materials in various formats (video, audio, powerpoint ...) through the virtual classroom.
Interactive classes: They will also be taught through the Virtual Classroom
Evaluation system:
