“Aula profesional” course is framed in the second half of the 4th year of the Chemical Engineering degree. The aim of this activity is to complement the scientific and technical training of students by application of concepts and fundamentals previously addressed in other courses by means of practices in an industrial company. The course pursues that students improve their skills in several cross-competences which facilitate their successful integration into the working world, not only from a professional point of view but also personal.
“Aula professional” course has not a rigid structure in contents or methodologies. Students can freely choose in a series of activities that want to improve their training. The school has signed more than 100 agreements with companies: Abengoa, Alcoa, Endesa, Ferroatlántica, Nestle, Respol ... so that students of Chemical Engineering degree can do practices in their facilities.
There is no specific bibliography. Students will have to use the own company documentation as well as the books, articles, etc., of the university library.

For managing the allocation process and verification of agreements, the school has appointed a Coordinator. In addition, each student has an academic tutor who will monitor the work done by the student and ensure the practice quality. The company will also assign a tutor among its technical staff to guide the student.
Students enrolled in the activity will have information not only about the places available, but also of their time planning, through bulletin board dedicated in the website of the school.
Students enrolled in the subject must participate in the Business Forum activity.
During practices, students will develop various general skills (CG4, CG11) and essentially cross-skills (CT7, CT9, CT10, CT11, CT12, CT13, CT14, CT17, CT18, CT19, CT20).
During the preparation of the final report it is basically developed the general competence CG1.
Academic tutor based on the practices monitoring, evaluation of tutor in the company (indicating the skills developed) and the final report created by the students will assign the final mark.
The student has one template for the completion of the report in:
https://nubeusc.sharepoint.com/:b:/r/sites/centro-etse/Practicas/Grao%2…
The final report will be assessed according to:
The assessment of the course will be done by the academic tutor based on the quality of the submitted report.
Given the particularities of this course, the weighing between final report and evaluation of the tutor company is a decission of the academic tutor.
The subject has a workload of 6 ECTS, corresponding 1 ECTS to 25 hours of total work. An approximate distribution of these hours is:
Classroom / student work hours / ECTS
Lectures 0.0 / 0.0 / 0.0
Seminars 2.0 / 133.0 / 5.4
Individualized tutoring 2.0 / 13.0 / 0.6
Review and revision 0.0 / 0.0 / 0.0
TOTAL 4.0 / 146.0 / 6.0
ETSE holds a seminar presentation of the activity opened to all degree students in which the procedures of practices course will be explained.
