Carmen Ríos Rodríguez

Biographical sketch
Mª del Carmen Ríos Rodríguez graduated (with honors) in Chemistry at the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC). She did her PhD at the USC under the supervision of Profs. Flor Rodríguez Prieto and Manuel Mosquera González in the field of photoinduced proton transfer processes (1994). During this time, she did a predoctoral stay (1993) at the Spectroscopy Department of the Max-Planck-Institut für Biophysikalische Chemie in Göttingen (Germany), under the supervision of Dr. K.-H. Grellmann. After obtaining the PhD, she did two postdoctoral stays in the group of Prof. Dr. J. W. Verhoeven at the University of Amsterdam (Holland), where she investigated electron donor-acceptor systems (1995) and delayed luminescent labels for diagnostic purposes (1996-1997). In 1995 she got an Assistant Professor position at the USC and since 2002 she is an Associate Professor at the Physical Chemistry Department of the USC. Her research interests are the study of excited-state proton, electron and energy transfer processes and the employment of fluorescent probes to investigate supramolecular systems.
