Network of Molecular Sciences and Molecular Materials

The Network of Molecular Sciences and Molecular Materials is a multidisciplinary network formed by 8 groups from the 3 galician universities:

The aim of the network is the development of new molecules and therapeutic strategies, as well as the synthesis and evaluation of molecular materials with potential applications as organic semiconductors

Selected research lines:

  • design, synthesis and evaluation of new materials for use in electronic and photonic devices (cells, solar, LEDs, OFETs, etc.). This section includes both the development of organic molecular materials, as well as the study and application of perovskites
  • development of unimolecular electronic devices on surfaces of Silicon, Germanium, NaCl or Calcit
  • development of molecular materials for the recognition of specific DNA sequences as the basis of gene therapy
  • design and photophysical characterization of fluorescent molecular probes for use in chemistry and biomedicine
  • development of new therapeutic strategies based on controlled activation or deactivation of bioactive molecules using external signals such as light
