Join us next friday for the graphene day at CiQUS!

07/11/2014

Next Friday, November 7th, we will have two talks at CiQUS about properties of graphene and other forms of carbon-based materials.

The first talk, that will take place at 12:15 will be "Electronic properties of nanographenes" by Dr. Joaquin Fernández Rossier, from INL Portugal (http://jfrossier.blogspot.com.es/). In this conference, Dr. Fernandez-Rossier will address the question of how graphene is different from a large planar aromatic hydrocarbon molecule, and the role played by the edges in the existance of magnetism, etc.

Dr. Tanusri Gupta, from S. N. Bose National Centre for Basic Sciences (http://people.bose.res.in/faculty/fac_new/tanusrisahadasgupta.html) will give the second lecture of the day, entitled "Magnetism in and on carbon materials". In this conference, that will take place from 17:00, Dr. Gupta will discuss about the origin of the magnetic properties of graphene and other forms of molecular carbon.

At the end of this talk we would like to open a discussion about the opportunities for synthetic chemistry to design new and interesting forms of molecular carbon.
