Lecture: 'Regio- & Enantioselective C–C Bond Activation of Benzocyclobutenones'

Professor Tao Xu (School of Medicine and Pharmacy, Ocean University of China)
CiQUS Seminar Room
12:15h
Dr. Tao Xu received his B.S. degree from Dalian University of Technology and completed his Ph.D. degree in Chemistry from Peking University with Professor Zhen Yang. In 2011, He joined the group of Prof. Guangbin Dong at University of Texas at Austin, as a postdoctoral researcher. His expertise is in the field of organic synthesis, transition metal catalysis, and medicinal chemistry. His future research interests lie at the development of powerful chemical tools for addressing questions of biological importance. His research program will bring together the complimentary knowledge of organic synthesis, medicinal chemistry and catalysis in collaboration with scientists in the field of cellular biology and animal pharmacology to identify effective small-molecule agents that target new molecular mechanisms for cancer treatment.
Dr. Xu's Ph.D. research studies involved development of new radical cyclization methods and applied these methods in the total syntheses of biologically important molecules such as Pseudolaric acid A.
