- In the lectures the subject will be explained with the support of the slides available in the virtual course.
- In the virtual course, students will have a collection of problems and practice scripts to work in computer classes.
- In the computer practices, MATLAB will be used.
- In the virtual course, students will have access to all the material, as well as a news forum and an email query service.
First assessment opportunity:
--------------------------------
The continuous assessment (AC) consists of the following parts:
----------------------------------------------------------------------
(AEC) A written test in the class and during the lectures with support material. This test covers the contents of T2 and represents 40% of the AC.
(APC) A test in the computer room during the interactive class with support material. The contents will be explained sufficiently in advance, depending on the set date. This test will validate the skills and competencies related to programming algorithms and numerical methods, considering:
a) Knowledge of numerical methods and their properties: 20% of the AC.
b) Programming with MATLAB of the numerical methods studied: 40% of the AC.
AC=AEC+APC
The final assessment (AF) consists of the following parts:
---------------------------------------------------------------
(APF) A test in the computer room, in the last weeks of class, on dates agreed with the course coordination team. The contents will be explained sufficiently in advance, depending on the set date. This test will validate the skills and competencies related to programming algorithms and numerical methods and represents 35% of the AF.
(AEF) A test held on the date assigned by the Faculty of Mathematics for the final exam of the subject, evaluating:
a) The resolution of theoretical questions, which represents 30% of the AF.
b) The resolution of problems/exercises, which represents 35% of the AF.
AF=APF+AEF
The evaluation of the subject (AM) is the maximum of the AF and the weighted average MP=0.3*AC+0.7*AF, that is:
AM=max(AF,0.3*AC+0.7*AF)
Second assessment opportunity:
----------------------------------
The AC grade is maintained for the second evaluation opportunity. Likewise, if APF>=5 or AEF>=5, these parts do not need to be repeated in the second evaluation.. If the student decides to repeat them, the grade for these parts will be the one obtained in the second opportunity. In the second opportunity, the test in the computer room (APF) will be held on the same day that the Faculty of Mathematics assigns for the final exam.
In the second opportunity, the same weighted average and the same maximum criterion as in the first opportunity are applied:
AM=max(AF,0.3*AC+0.7*AF)
Theoretical teaching: 28 hours on-site class
Interactive teaching in the computer room: 28 hours on-site class
Small group tutorials: 2 hours on-site class
Student personal work hours: 92
Total: 150 hours = 6 ECTS
- To attend class.
- Dedicate regular study time throughout the course to the subject.
- To solve the problem worksheets.
- To start carrying out programming practices from the first session.
