Be familiar with the general characteristics of human diseases in patients of all ages and conditions.
Acquire a holistic vision of the dental patient based on knowledge of the general processes of the disease, including infection, inflammation, alterations of the immune system, degeneration, neoplasia, metabolic alterations and genetic disorders. Know the characteristics of the most prevalent diseases and more specifically those that have oral repercussions. Know the procedures and clinical and laboratory diagnostic tests and be competent in interpreting their results.
Develop the necessary skills to perform clinical reasoning and the resolution of medical problems using the clinical method.
Foster the foundations to establish an empathic relationship with patients and adequately integrate the information they provide.
The expositive lessons and interactive seminars will be taught by lecturers from the areas of medicine, pediatrics and dermatology. They may be carried out in person, telematically or both. The clinical practices, with some exceptions, will take place in hospitals and community health centers.
There will be a partial exam at the end of the first semester that, if it is passed, will release the missing material in those months.
At the end of the classes, in the month of May, the final exam will take place, written and face-to-face, which will assess the knowledge and ability to relate the concepts acquired. The one who obtains at least 50% of the possible points will be considered approved. Students who have passed the December exam will only be examined in May for the contents explained in the last semester.
Attendance to classes and seminars, the active and participative attitude in the classroom, as well as the knowledge acquired by the student in classes, seminars, resolution of clinical problems, teamwork and clinical practices will be evaluated continuously and will have an important weight in the final grade.
It is considered that to acquire and establish the necessary knowledge required of the subject through classes, readings, bibliographic consultations and academic work, it requires a personal work and dedication of between 5-8 hours per week.
The student should be aware that although its scope is limited to future dental plan, their studies are framed within the health sciences and, therefore, his duty will be shared with other professionals to ensure comprehensive health their patients and the community.
