simulation
E,S,L: use of new technologies that incorporate clinical images, diagnostic tests and computer simulations or with mannequins and with standardized simulated patients.
S,L: Clinical cases, Basic and advanced simulation .
Standardized clinical cases will be used according to the subject's competencies; depending on the case with simulation or with video learning and multimedia debriefing.
To pass the subject, it is necessary to pass each of the components corresponding to expository and interactive teaching, both in seminars and in the laboratory. Additionally, completing all tasks, activities, and tests will be mandatory.
General considerations regarding class attendance
The teaching in this degree program is in-person, and attendance at both expository and interactive classes is mandatory. In case of absence due to force majeure, proper justification must be provided. Class attendance is an essential requirement to pass the subject or to take the exams. Before the exams, a list of students meeting this requirement to sit the exams will be published. Attendance requirements, depending on the type of teaching, are as follows:
Lectures: 60%
Interactive classes:
Seminars: 70%
Labs: 80%
Tutoring: 100%
Assessment tests: 100%
For an absence to be considered justified, the student must submit a document to the professor responsible for the subject (within a maximum of 5 working days after the reason for the absence ends) that adequately accredits the cause of the absence. If the absence is due to a scheduled activity (e.g., a medical appointment), the student must notify the professor responsible in advance to attempt to recover the absence through an alternative session (e.g., with another seminar/laboratory group).
Absences will be taken into account in continuous assessment.
Teaching exemptions will be applied in cases determined by the faculty.
Intentional manipulation or falsification of attendance control systems will result in the activity being considered as unattended, and the incident will be reported to the Rectorate for the initiation of any applicable disciplinary actions.
Considerations regarding assessment
To pass the subject, it is necessary to pass both expository and interactive teaching. To pass the interactive teaching, students must complete all proposed activities and achieve at least 50% of the maximum score for all of them.
The student's attitude, contributions of interest, participation, teamwork, behavior and respect toward the professor and classmates, as well as adherence to schedules, will be assessed.
If the student does not attend the final written test, they will be considered as "not presented."
In the second exam opportunity, the continuous assessment of interactive teaching will be maintained.
In cases of fraudulent completion of exercises or tests, the provisions of the "Regulations on the Assessment of Academic Performance of Students and the Review of Grades" will apply.
The final grade for the subject will be broken down as follows:
Theoretical exam: Weighted at 60%, consisting of an objective written test.
Continuous assessment: Weighted at 40%. This corresponds to the total of the grades obtained in the various tasks proposed throughout the course, which may include written tests or OCSE. The number of tasks, their weighting, and the correction criteria will be specified during the course with sufficient notice and will be visible through the interactive teaching platforms. Submission deadlines for each task will be communicated during the academic activity with sufficient notice. No task will be accepted if it is not submitted through the indicated means, within the specified deadline, and in the required format. This evaluation will include participation.
In the event of passing the interactive component (seminars and/or laboratories) but failing the corresponding expository component, the passed part of seminars and/or laboratories may be carried over to the following academic year.
If, due to exceptional circumstances (illness, etc.), a student misses any seminars/laboratories but participates in the activities linked to them, after providing the corresponding justification and its analysis, the teaching staff may establish an alternative for their completion.
Corresponding activities:
OSCE format (subject to teaching availability): Designed to assess competencies through an ECOE test format, a tool of proven validity to determine the student's ability to apply knowledge, skills, and attitudes to solve situations that may arise in professional practice.
The OSCE test includes the following clinical skills:
Basic clinical skills
Communication
Technical skills
Situation management (nursing action plan)
Instruments used:
Standardized simulated patients
Advanced simulators
Mannequins
Clinical images
Open-ended questions with short answers (test format)
Structured oral exam
Individual study: 72
Recommended reading, study of simulation scenarios, similar: 40.5
Establish connections between the theoretical information received in the theoretical classes and the observations and interventions made in the seminars.
Request collaboration and/or help from the teacher through tutoring.
Study technique based on reasoning in the search for the practical applicability of theoretical content.
- In accordance with article 9.2.a of the USC Student Statute and article 36 of the Law of Organization of the University System, the use of electronic devices (mobile phones, tablets, computers) will not be permitted in expository and interactive classes. , etc.)
unless expressly authorized by the faculty.
ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSIBILITY
The delivery of works in digital format will be promoted. If any printed work on the subject is requested, whether individual or group, the following indications will be taken into account:
- Avoid plastic sleeves or other unnecessary external packaging.
- Whenever possible, use staples instead of spirals.
- Printing on both sides in "ink saving" quality.
- Do not use blank pages as chapter or part dividers.
- Avoid attachments that do not have a direct reference to the topics discussed in the work.

GENDER PERSPECTIVE
The gender perspective will be introduced transversally into the contents.
In accordance with the criteria of gender equality in the university environment, it is recommended to use non-sexist language both in daily classroom work and in the requested academic work. Information about this can be obtained at the following link:

Other measures will also be used to apply the gender approach in teaching, such as the recognition and consideration of the particular situations of female students, the promotion of a climate of egalitarian interactions, the egalitarian organization of groups whenever possible, the exhibition of scientific contributions. and techniques of women in the subject and of the students themselves, and the introduction of gender as a category of analysis of students' work.
