The basic competences are those described in the general report of the degree.
General competences
The general competences are those described in the general report of the degree.
Transversal competences
CT1 - Think in an integrated way and approach problems from different perspectives.
CT2 - Search, process, analyze and synthesize information from different sources.
CT4 - Interpret experimental results and identify consistent and inconsistent elements.
CT6 - Critical reasoning.
CT8 -Adaptation to new situations (resilience).
Specific competences
CE1- To know how to make calculations, analyze data and interpret experimental results specific to the fields of Biotechnology.
CE6- To be able to analyze and design biotechnological industrial processes and apply them to the improvement of products.
Lectures: 20 hours of classes.
The content of the course will be taught mainly through lectures with audiovisual support and ICT tools.
Part of the course will be taught by proposing activities, problems or debates that will be worked, in groups or individually, with the support of material and the help of the teacher.
Class attendance is not compulsory but it is recommended and student participation will be promoted and valued (as part of the continuous evaluation).
Students will be provided with the didactic material used by the teacher in the classroom, as well as complementary didactic material.
At the end of each topic or group of topics, a self-evaluation questionnaire will be provided through the virtual classroom without weight in the final evaluation.
There will be a virtual classroom in which the didactic material used by the teacher will be included, as well as other support material including calendars, web pages of interest, etc. It will also be a platform for communication and discussion about the course. The latter will be complemented by the creation of a group of MSTeams, which will be used for telematic classes or discussion groups if necessary.
Competences covered: CG1, CG2, CG3, CG4, CG5, CB1, CB2, CB3, CB4, CB5, CT6.
Seminars: 3 classroom hours.
Students will work, individually or in groups, on the tasks proposed by the teacher. The results will be presented and discussed, in person or using the virtual classroom, with the teacher and other students.
CG1, CG2, CG3, CG4, CG5, CB1, CB2, CB3, CB4, CB5, CT1, CT2, CT6.
Laboratory practicals: 14 classroom hours
The practices will be carried out in the laboratory.
Some of the practices will require the use of a computer.
CG1, CG2, CG3, CG4, CG5, CB1, CB2, CB3, CB4, CB5, CT1, CT2, CT6, CE6.
Group tutorials
The dynamics of the practices will be explained and the computer tools to be used will be discussed.
Individual tutorials:
They will be used to clarify doubts, guide or provide information to students.
FINAL EXAM: 50% of the final grade.
The exam is a compulsory and evaluable activity that will include the contents of the course. The passing grade will be 5 out of 10.
A grade of 5 in the exam is necessary to be able to add the grade of the continuous evaluation.
PRACTICALS: 15% of the final grade.
The laboratory practices are of obligatory and evaluable attendance whose attendance will be controlled by signature. Unexcused absences to the practicals will result in a failing grade.
The practices will be evaluated by the delivery of a report, as well as by the active participation in them.
A minimum grade of 5 out of 10 is required in order to add the grade to the continuous evaluation.
SEMINAR: 5% of the final grade.
Attendance to a minimum of two thirds of the seminars is required in order to add the grade to the continuous evaluation. Unexcused absences to the seminars will result in a failing grade.
The seminars will be evaluated by the participation of the students as well as by the delivery and/or exposition of a short report.
CONTINUOUS ASSESSMENT: 30% of the final grade.
The active participation of the students will be evaluated (by the teacher's report) in the expository classes, as well as the activities carried out during them. 10% of the final grade.
Evaluation of the development of a research project in search of bioactive substances or improvement of aquaculture systems. The project will be carried out in a group and will be worked on throughout the semester. 20% of the final grade.
If the minimums of all the parts are exceeded, the grades obtained in each of the parts may be added together.
For the evaluation of the second opportunity, all the grades of the activities evaluated during the course will be maintained, except for the final exam, which must be repeated.
For cases of fraudulent performance of exercises or tests, the provisions of the "Regulations for the evaluation of the academic performance of students and review of grades" will apply.
Classroom work:
Lectures: 20 hours.
Laboratory practicals: 14 hours.

Personal work of the student: 72 hours.
Total work: 112.5 hours.
-Active participation in the classes, practices and seminars.
Continuous work is recommended throughout the four-month period with weekly reviews of the material taught.
-It is recommended the use of individualized tutorials that can be arranged through MSTeams, virtual classroom forums or face-to-face to solve doubts and guide the study.
