The main Objective of the Subject is that the Student acquires Knowledge that allows him to understand how are produced the Events and the “pseudo-events” in the Society, how are converted in Information and what steps he must give for the Construction of the Messages and so that these achieve the Efficiency Communicative. The Subject will foment the Curiosity in the Student to know the Turns of the Functioning of the Complex Current Society, the Necessity of searching those Events that have a great Interest for the Citizens, the Criteria of Valuation and the Elaboration Techniques of the Messages.
Writing for the media. The value of the present time as main element of the informative discourse. Study and training in technology, analysis and expression forms in printed and digital media. Theory and technique of journalistic message treatment. Journalistic style elements. Approximations to Galician Journalists reality and to another reference ones. The integral construction of journalistic message and its variants by support and expressive mode.
The Contents of the Course will turn on the study and Capacitating in the Technology, the Analysis and the Expression of Forms and Printed and Electronic Means. The Programme includes Questions relation with the Theory and the Technique of the Journalistic Message.
Theoretical Contents:
The Central Theoretical Contents will turn on the Basic Concepts of the Journalistic Procedure and the Questions relation with the Theory and the Technique for Writing in the Mass Media. The Descriptor of the Subject includes the next Aspects:
- The Value of the Present Time as Central Element of the Informative Discourse.
- Study and Capacitating in the Technology, in the Analysis and in the Expression of Forms in Printed and Electronic Means.
- Theory and Technique of the Journalistic Message.
- Elements of the Journalistic Style.
- Approximations to the Reality of the Galician Journalists and other Journalists of Reference.
- The Integral Construction of the Journalistic Message and the Variables of Gender and Models.

The Subject will foment the Curiosity in the Student to know the Turns of the Functioning of the Complex Current Society, the Necessity of searching those Events that have a great Interest for the Citizens, the Criteria of Valuation and the Elaboration Techniques of the Messages.
The Subject must contribute so that the Student has Competences and Abilities for the News Writing Techniques and the Construction of Information Pieces from Current Events.
The Teaching Methodology will combine Different Techniques ( it will include Theoretical Magisterial Classes, Theoretical Seminar Classes, Practices Seminar Classes, Individual and Group Tutorial Works, Studies of Case…), favouring in all moment the Implication of the Student in his Formative Process. Also, the Student will realize Practices of Laboratory in Classes of Writing Techniques.
Remote activities are planned through the virtual campus.
The Assessment will be Continuous, so there will be a constant Control of the Knowledge that acquires the Student.
The Assessment Instruments of Contents and Attitudes will be basically:
a) Theoretical Exams.
b) Practices realized during the Practices Classes.
c) Active and Positive Participation in the Seminars.
d) Assessment of the Projects or Studies of Case formulated along the Course.
If the face-to-face exam is not possible, the final evaluation will be the result of continuous evaluation throughout the semester.
If the face-to-face exam is possible, the continuous assessment will be 50 percent of the grade.
In cases of fraudulent completion of exercises or tests, the provisions of the Regulations for the evaluation of the academic performance of students and the review of grades will apply.
The Student will have to devote 51 Hours of Presence Work and 99 Hours of Preparation Work and Realization of the Programmed Activities.
Control of the Present Time in the Mass Media, Control of the Programmed Activities and Control of the Material that will be actualized in the Page of the Subject (www.novosmedios.org/periodismo) and virtual USC.
Contingency plan
In accordance with the three scenarios that the USC contemplates due to the health emergency, the teaching methodology will be gradually adapted by combining face-to-face and virtual or only-virtual teaching initiatives, through the e-learning platform (in the third scenario it will be all virtual).
Regarding the assessment system, if face-to-face examination on campus is not possible, ir will be continuous, through different initiatives programmed throughout the four-month period.
