Topic 5: Vine pests and diseases in Atlantic areas
Unit 6: Strategies for controlling pests and key pathogens of the vine.
INTERACTIVE
Practice: inventory of pests and diseases of the vine. Collection of material, diagnosis and identification. In scenario 3, it would be replaced by a photographic inventory of symptoms and diagnostic processes.
Seminar: planning of phytosanitary treatments based on environmental conditions and prediction systems.

Technical visits to companies and institutions: it allows direct contact with the wine-growing environment and its fundamental agents, allowing you to learn about the problems and peculiarities of the activity. Two exits to differential characteristic areas are planted and one exit to the experimental farm, for observation and study of advanced alternatives

The preparation of reports of practices and technical visits and works in English scores an extra 15%.
Criteria for repeaters and extraordinary call (SECOND CHANCE) and more students who have been granted an attendance exemption by the Degree Commission according to the provisions of the Class Attendance Regulations, must take into account that to pass the subject, they must demonstrate practical knowledge, and provide the works that are programmed in each course or demonstrate their mastery of these aspects reliably. The oral presentation and discussion (if applicable) and the simulation of a small debate similar to the case of presentations made during the course. of works can be requested by the teacher.
Exercise reports, and Essays written in English will get an extra 15% score.

The student requires an approximate average personal work of approximately 2 hours for each hour of class, calculated in a total of 48 hours of average personal work.
The practices, in addition to their time in the laboratory or field, sometimes require variable personal monitoring depending on the practice and the weather, as well as the preparation of the corresponding reports, and the preparation of questionnaires or interventions in the seminars.
Recommendations for the study of the subject
1. TUTORIALS:
Individual tutorials (face-to-face or virtual): Students can do tutoring whenever they need it, being advisable to do it whenever they have questions to clarify.
2. CLASS ATTENDANCE:
Students are recommended to attend class as the best option to understand and know the real content of the same and it is essential to be able to carry out the reinforcement and complementary works. In addition, it must be active (participate, ask questions, rewponder and follow the simulations, etc.)
3. RECOMMENDATIONS FOR EVALUATION AND RECOVERY.
It is necessary to prepare with equal intensity the theoretical and practical contents, including field practice trips using and complementing with the recommended bibliography. In case of recovery it is interesting to analyze the mistakes made. Another desirable aspect is that the student make a continuous effort regarding the study, understanding and acquisition of skills and abilities.
Comments
Theory classes are taught by lectures with the support of the USC-Virtual to achieve the objectives of teaching.
The practice sessions are conducted with small groups in order to achieve greater interaction with the student, and attendance is considered mandatory.
Guidelines of the topics that students will prepare in working groups will be presented in seminars. Those topics will be defenced and discuss on the class.
Alternatively, one may propose the development of articles on topics related to the subject in the virtual USC, where with the Tool Evaluation-Works the students will check the topics, guidelines and deadlines.
Tutorials will be offered also "on line" using the communication tools of the USC-Virtual.
