He is also heavily involved in standardisation work, he is convenor of WG3 of CEN/TC305. He wrote numerous articles on explosion safety. In 2019 he received the EPSC Award for his contributions to industrial safety from the European Process Safety Centre.

He has been involved various research projects related to hydrogen safety, studying:

  • The consequences of handling and use of large volumes of liquefied hydrogen within closed and semi-closed environments for maritime transport;
  • The possibility and characteristics of a hydrogen BLEVE; or
  • The possibility and consequences of the Rapid Phase Transitions (RPTs) when liquefied hydrogen is released onto water.

Vysus Group   Following a strategic carve-out from the Lloyd’s Register (LR) Group, LR’s Energy business is now Vysus Group, a standalone engineering and technical consultancy, offering specialist asset performance, risk management and project management expertise across complex industrial assets, energy assets (oil and gas, nuclear, renewables), the energy transition and rail infrastructure.
