Dr. Carlos Penedo has visited our laboratories and given a lecture at CIQUS. Dr. Penedo leads the research group Biophysics and Biomolecular Dynamics at the University of St. Andrews (Scotland, U.K.). His research focuses on the use and development of novel physical techniques to study biomolecular interactions including proteins, DNA and RNA at the level of single molecules. He also studies conjugated polymers with single-molecule fluorescence techniques. These species are very promising for organic light-emitting diode (OLED) displays and solar cells.
