Credit recognition

The recognition regulations at the USC are contained in the Regulations on the recognition and transfer of credits for official Bachelor's and Master's studies at the University of Santiago de Compostela, approved by the Governing Council on July 24, 2024, in force since February 1, 2025.

  • Crédits passed in other official estudies, at the same or at another university (Chapter II of the Regulations)
  • Professional and work experience (Chapter VI of the Regulation). Maximun 15% of the total credits of the degree.
  • University activities or transversal competences , as optinal credits (Chapters III and IV of the Regulation and Resolution Reitoral  5 February 2025). Maximun limit of 12 ECTS credits in Bachelor`s degrees and 10% of the total credits in the study plan in the case of marter`s degrees.
  • Other higher education studies and university-specific studies (Chapter IV of the Regulations). The recognition tables for higher technical vocational training studies can be consulted at the following link enlace.
  • By adaptation of studies (Chapter VII of the Regulation)
  • For partial validation of foreign studies (Chapter VIII of the Regulations). To be admitted to the USC through this procedure, you must obtain prior recognition of a minimun of 30 ECTS in the subjects of the degree for which admission is requested.
  • Os traballos de fin de grao e de fin de máster.
  • As materias superadas nun grao, diplomatura, arquitectura técnica e enxeñaría técnica como materias de máster universitario oficial.
  • As materias xa cualificadas como resultado dun proceso de recoñecemento de créditos non poderán dar lugar a recoñecementos posteriores noutro título de grao ou máster.
  • As prácticas externas realizadas nuns estudos universitarios para outros conducentes a unha titulación universitaria oficial diferente a aquela na que se realizaron as prácticas.
  • As prácticas extracurriculares polas prácticas curriculares previstas nos plans de estudos.
  • Os requisitos formativos complementarios para a homologación de títulos universitarios estranxeiros.
  • Os realizados na modalidade de matrícula extraordinaria.
  • Os estudos non universitarios que non estean previstos na normativa reguladora e non sexan equivalentes academicamente a estudos recoñecibles.

IMPORTANT: To continue studies in undergraduate degrees, students must have at least 30 ECTS recognized in the degree in which they are applying to study.

Article 6 of the Regulation introduces the possibility of requesting a prior consultation of the file for the purposes of being informed of the subjects and activities recognized in a degree taught at the USC. This consultation is mandatory in cases in which access to the university requires the recognition of a minimum of credits in application of the regulations for access and/or continuation of studies. Whoever requests this prior consultation must pay the fee provided for the study of the file. (Article 6 of the Regulation and Rectoral Resolution of the call)
