Conferencia: «Estrategias de funcionalización selectiva de alquinos internos y enlaces C-H»

Prof. Juan Carlos Carretero
CiQUS Seminar room
17:00
Juan Carlos Carretero (Madrid, 1960) received his Ph.D. from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM) in 1985, under the supervision of Prof. José L. García Ruano. After postdoctoral studies (1985-1988) at the Université Catholique de Louvain (Belgium) with Prof. Léon Ghosez, he joined the Department of Organic Chemistry of the UAM, where he became Associate Professor in 1988 and Professor of Organic Chemistry in 2000.
He has been visiting Professor at the Faculté de Chimie. Université Louis Pasteur. Strasbourg (2008) and head of the Department of Organic Chemistry at the UAM (2010-2014). He received in 2010 the Janssen-Cilag Award in Organic Chemistry from the Spanish Royal Society of Chemistry.
Research and lectures: A total of 180 publications, 9 book chapters and 3 patents. 29 PhD Theses supervised. Around 80 plenary/invited lectures and seminars. Serratosa 2015 Lecturer.
His current research interests are focused on the development of novel processes and ligands in asymmetric catalysis, especially catalytic asymmetric 1,3-dipolar cycloadditions. Metal-catalyzed regioselective and stereoselective borylation and silylation of alkynes and development of novel C(sp2)-H y C(sp3)-H functionalization processes.
