Lecture: «Carbohydrates tackling the challenge of interdisciplinary science: our contribution to The European Innovation Partnership on Active and Healthy Ageing in promoting disease prevention»

Amélia Pilar Rauter (Habilitation at Faculty of Sciences, University of Lisbon, 2002; Ph.D. at Technische Universitaet Graz, Austria, 1982) research focuses on the discovery of active principles from natural resources and on molecular design and synthetic organic chemistry. She is the Leader of the Faculty of Sciences Consortium of the European Innovation Partnership on Active and Healthy Ageing, with more than 30 partners from various countries in Europe, the Head of the Carbohydrate Chemistry Group - Center of Chemistry and Biochemistry (FCUL), and has been serving as Editor (RSC Carbohydrate Chemistry book series), Associated Editor (Mediterranean Journal of Chemistry), and member of European Journal of Organic Chemistry advisory board, and of advisory/editorial boards of other Natural Product/Carbohydrate Chemistry journals. She is the Secretary of the European Carbohydrate Organisation and the Secretary of the IUPAC Division (III) on Organic and Biomolecular Chemistry. She has supervised 19 Ph.D. theses and currently 6 more Ph.D. students, published more than 130 papers and book chapters, and authored 7 granted patents.
