Linguistic Normalisation

This work is organised into four areas:
•    Dynamism: this area involves planning and organisation of activities for promotion and raising awareness
•    Education: this area organises courses for students, professors, and personnel
•    Linguistic advising: this area reviews documentation and produces criteria and templates for use of the language
•    Terminology: the area produces and distributes a specialised dictionary
We offer a whole range of services, so that you can select the one that fits your own needs and interests:

I want to learn Galician
•    If you are starting from zero, the course you need is the Course in Galician for non-speakers. This course is co organised with the Centre for Modern Languages.
•    If you are primarily interested in the spoken Galician language, you can enrol in the Tandem Programme offered by the Centre for Modern Languages, or you can consult this Guide to University Conversation published by the University of Barcelona.
•    If you want to receive official acknowledgement of your level of Galician, you can participate in the courses or testing offered by the Galician Language Certification (Celga) programme of the regional government of Galicia (Xunta de Galicia).
I want to improve my Galician
If you already have a basic mastery of the Galician language, but still have some occasional uncertainties:
•    you can consult with us by using thissnlusc [at] usc.gal ( form)
•    you can search in the section on Linguistic criteria
•    you can search in the bUSCatermos multilingual dictionary
I want to improve my communication skills
If you’re interested in writing and want to improve your written work, or create more effective digital presentations, or become a better public speaker, you can enrol in the Communication Skills Course. If you are only looking for improvement in some of these aspects, you can enrol only in the module that best fits your needs and interests.
And if all you need are templates to use as the basis for your own work, you can take a look at the documents and presentations we make available for you.
I want to help make Galician more widely used at the universities
The linguistic normalisation committees (LNCs) are responsible for proposing and designing activities that encourage the use of Galician at each university campus.
If you want to contribute your volunteer work or ideas, simply find the person responsible for the CNL at your campus.
I want to receive news items related to the Galician language
The USC is a great source of opportunities related to the Galician language: news items, activities, awards, competitions, campaigns, etc. By participating in these, you can learn new things, put your skills to the test, and even win prizes.
You can follow the activities of the Linguistic Normalisation Service at its website or on Instragram, and you can also stay informed via the O Cartafol online magazine.
