Information about the degree in Modern Languages and Literature:mention in Portuguese Language and Lusophone Literatures

This itinerary aims to guarantee, at an advanced general level, the possession and understanding of knowledge related to the linguistic, literary and socio-cultural field of the Lusophone area (Portugal, Brazil and the PALOPs), also bearing in mind the Galicia-Lusophone interrelations.

The core of the degree is constituted by the major in Portuguese Language and Lusophone Literatures, which is made up of 20 subjects of 6 credits grouped in the following modules:

  • Portuguese language and introduction to Portuguese-language literatures
  • Portuguese grammar
  • Culture of Portuguese-speaking countries
  • Portuguese language literatures I
  • Portuguese language literatures II

On the other hand, the basic training module, in addition to standardising the initial level of Portuguese and providing basic training in a second and third language, is designed to provide the knowledge and methodological tools necessary to approach, in general, the study of languages and literatures.

Finally, through the complementary and optional modules, students can acquire basic or intermediate level training in a second or third language and its literature, in General Linguistics, in Literary Theory or in Romance Philology, or combine initial training in one of these disciplines with an in-depth study of the contents studied in the Master's degree.
