The Master's Degree in Teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language or Second Language is an interdepartmental proposal of the Universities of Santiago de Compostela, Vigo and A Coruña that aims to respond to the growing academic, scientific and professional needs of Spanish as a language teacher. foreign or second language (LE/L2), as well as meeting the high demand detected among native and non-native students who wish to open their academic, scientific and labour perspectives towards the field of teaching Spanish LE/L2, a demand clearly linked to the international situation of our language, as various socioeconomic studies have revealed, in which an extraordinary vitality is evident, undoubtedly related to its increasing demographic and economic weight in a globalized world.

These 60 credits are to be completed during one academic year, in the first semester 30 compulsory credits, and in the second, the remaining ones, that is, 6 compulsory credits, 9 optional, internship and the master’s thesis.

Recommended knowledge:
· Advanced knowledge of the Spanish language (phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax, lexicon, discourse analysis).

La Comisión académica del máster será la encargada de coordinar las actividades de apoyo y orientación a los estudiantes.
Las tres universidades cuentan con diferentes servicios de apoyo al estudiantado. Los más importantes se recogen en los PAT (Plan de acción tutorial), que contemplan tutorización académica individualizada para los estudiantes de máster, promueven la organización de sesiones informativas sobre oferta académica y sobre TFM, entre otros aspectos. Access

Poderán acceder ás ensinanzas oficiais de Master:
1. As persoas que estean en posesión dun título universitario oficial español.
2. Aquelas que teñan un título expedido por unha institución de educación superior do EEES que faculta no país expedidor do título para o acceso a ensinanzas de mestrado.
3. Os titulados conforme a sistemas educativos alleos ao EEES sen necesidade de homologación dos seus títulos, previa comprobación pola Universidade de que os ditos títulos acreditan un nivel de formación equivalente aos correspondentes títulos universitarios españois e que facultan no país expedidor do título para o acceso a ensinanzas de posgrao.
REQUISITOS ESPECÍFICOS
Ao estudantado estranxeiro que non teña o español como lingua materna esixiráselle que acredite mediante certificado oficial (DELE ou SIELE Global) un nivel C1 de dominio lingüístico da lingua española.

• Master's Degree in Spanish Language and Literature.
• Master's Degree in Applied Linguistics.
• Master's Degree in Compulsory Secondary Education and Baccalaureate Teaching, Vocational Training and Language Teaching. Languages and Literatures Specialty.

• Master's Degree in Research and Innovation in Specific Didactics for Early Childhood and Primary Education / Master's Degree in Pedagogy.
• Other undergraduate degrees (or bachelor's degrees) from the Branches of Arts and Humanities and Social and Legal Sciences.

The fundamental objective of this master's degree is to train professionals in teaching Spanish as a foreign or second language, trained for both teaching and research.
Based on this general objective, the following specific objectives are articulated, which are those that determine, in general terms, the learning and training results.
· Provide the knowledge and skills necessary for efficient, adaptable, and quality professional performance in the field of teaching Spanish FL/L2.
· Promote research in the field of teaching Spanish FL/L2.
· Provide the necessary tools to organize and manage the teaching and learning processes of Spanish FL/L2.
· Provide resources to respond to the perspectives of the Spanish as a foreign language industry in its different dimensions.
· Promote positive attitudes towards linguistic and cultural diversity.

Comp01 - Know how to use the theoretical-practical knowledge acquired on teaching-learning of second languages in the teaching field or in other professional environments.
Comp02 - Solve problems linked to the teaching-learning of second languages in broader and multidisciplinary contexts.
Comp04 - Know how to transmit the results of research in the field of language teaching-learning to a specialised and non-specialised audience.

K01 - Identify and differentiate the methodological guidelines used in the teaching-learning of second languages and the factors that intervene in these processes.
K02 - Know and understand the fundamental concepts of pragmatic theories and adapt them to teaching in second languages.
K03 - Identify and distinguish sociolinguistic models and apply them to the teaching of second languages.
K04 - Analyse and select planning, management, and assessment procedures appropriate to each teaching/learning process of Spanish FL/L2.
K05 - Identify and describe the main problems that grammar presents in the teaching-learning of Spanish FL/L2.
K06 - Identify and describe the main problems that lexis presents in the teaching-learning of Spanish FL/L2.
K07 - Distinguish the different methods used in the processes of creating materials for teaching Spanish FL/L2: analysis, selection, assessment, and adaptation.
K08 - Identify the main phenomena of Spanish variation and examine their treatment in teaching Spanish FL/L2.
K09 - Know and understand the methodologies and resources to develop learners' competence in the four communicative activities of the language: comprehension, expression, interaction, and mediation.
K10 - Apply the work methodology based on corpus data and operate with different types of corpora used in the teaching-learning of second languages.
K11 - Know the theoretical-practical foundations of teaching Spanish for specific purposes.
K12 - Distinguish linguistic approaches and pedagogical models in teaching Spanish based on different contexts determined by sociocultural factors of the learners.
K13 - Select and use materials and resources related to teaching Spanish FL/L2.
K14 - Select appropriate procedures to adapt the teaching of Spanish FL/L2 to speakers of signed languages.

Student mobility is regulated through the “Regulation of inter-university exchange.” Exchange programmes are managed through the International Relations Office, such as
national exchange programmes (SICUE) as well as Europeans (ERASMUS) and from outside the European Union (exchanges with Latin American countries or English-speaking countries):

Internships

External academic internships constitute an activity of a training nature, whose objective is that students can apply and complement the knowledge acquired in their academic training, favouring the acquisition of skills that prepare them for the exercise of professional activities.
External academic internships are compulsory, their teaching load is 6 ECTS and, taking into account the training objectives of the degree, they are temporarily placed in the second semester.
Accredited work and professional experience in the field of the degree may be recognised in the form of credits corresponding to external internships. Recognition will be carried out based on the results of the training and learning process of the degree and may not exceed, as a whole, 15 percent of the total credits that make up the study plan.

The Master's Final Dissertation is compulsory, its teaching load is 9 ECTS and, taking into account the training objectives of the degree, it is temporarily placed in the second semester. Passing it will be essential to obtain the official title.
