Relations with other research centers

1. Relations with other research centers

The GI-1648 maintains relationships and collaborations with researchers from different centers:

Researchers from different centers:

National:

Zaidín Experimental Station, CSIC, Granada; University of Extremadura; Oviedo University; Polytechnic University of Madrid; Forest Research Center of Lourizán, Pontevedra; Forest Technological Center, Solsona, Lleida; Neiker, Basque Country.

International:

University of Florida; University of Oregon; Forest Sciences Laboratory, Oregon; European Forest Institute; University of Belfast; University of Florence; Polytechnic University of Bragança; Mountain Research Center, Portugal; University of Tunis; Department of Forestry, Lamias, Greece; French Agroforestry Association; European Agroforestry Federation; University of Thessaloniki, Greece; University of Tras os Montes and Alto Douro, Portugal, European Forestry Institute (EFI).

The research team developed a remarkable internationalization activity in recent years, which is reflected in the following indicators:

  • The IP María Rosa Mosquera Losada, coordinator of international relations of the group, is president-elect of the European Federation of Agroforestry Systems (EURAF), of which the group coordinator is a founding member.
  • He also presides over the recently created Spanish Association of Agroforestry Systems, whose director is the coordinator of the group.
  • Professor Mosquera also chairs the group of agroforestry systems of the Spanish Society of Forestry Sciences and is a member of the RAMIRAN (Neetwwork on Recycling of Agricultural Municipal and Industrial Residues in Agriculture) group of pastures of the European Grassland Federation, and Also coordinator of the working group on agroforestry systems of the Global Research Alliance and coordinator of a Thematic Network in the framework of HORIZON 2020 related to innovation and participates in forums of the European Network for Rural Development and International Panel on Climate Change.
  • Several members of the group were voted to represent, through the presidency, the European Federation of Agroforestry Systems. This Federation was able to form part of the European institutions such as the civil dialogue groups of the European Commission (Civil Dialogue Group, CDG), whose meetings are regularly attended by members of the research team. The civil dialogue groups to which EURAF belongs are: Rural Development, Ecological Agriculture, Arable Crops, Climate Change and the Environment, Direct and Green Payments and Forests and Bark. In addition, EURAF is also part of the European Assembly for Rural Development, in which members of regional rural development programs across Europe are represented. EURAF forms part of the LEADER working groups, EIP and Evaluation of rural development programs.
  • The importance that the group has been giving in recent years to its international projection is providing its fruits, for example in obtaining EU funding for projects, in the number of publications in collaboration with foreign groups and in participating in international congresses.
The current international projects are:
      - AFINET (01/01/2017 - 31/12/2019)
      - AGFORWARD (01/01/2014 - 31/12/2017)
      - LIFE LUGO BIODINÁMICO (18/01/2016 - 30/06/2020)

The group's publications in JCR journals in collaboration with foreign groups were: one in 2014, none in 2015 and six in 2016.

With regard to participation in international congresses, in 2014, eleven papers were presented, five in 2015 and eleven in 2016. Five papers presented at international congresses in 2014 were prepared in collaboration with other non-governmental research groups Spanish, as well as two of those presented in 2015 and eight in 2016.

The group currently runs six doctoral theses, four of which correspond to non-Spanish PhD students.

The above data reflect the effort that the group is making in recent years in the face of its internationalization.

2. Relations, agreements and contracts with companies and administrations

Since its inception, the research group has signed various agreements and contracts with companies and administrations. In recent years, the weight of services provided has been reduced, while the weight of funding from public I & D calls, mainly from the EU and the National Plan, has increased substantially.

The companies and administrations with which the group signed various agreements and contracts throughout its history are, among others: (see recent contracts)
