Federico López Silvestre, together with María Gil and Sergio Meijide, lecturers in the Department of Art History at the University, are the curators of the exhibition “Un rastro de furia y algas ("A trace of fury and algae"), produced by the USC's Department of Culture.
"Un rastro de furia y algas” exhibition
The Coffered Hall in Fonseca College hosts the exhibition from 19 October to 27 January. Entitled after a verse by Alba Cid, the exhibition was inaugurated with a performance by the collective Landra, in which they translate soil analysis into a kind of music of the earth: the vestiges of the action remain in the room, with musical instruments and laboratory apparatus. The other guest artists have very heterogeneous practices: there is the catastrophic visual atlas and sculpture by Diego Vites, the plastics of the sea in the work by Cabanes Fontao, a forest on screens in that by Mariana Vilanova, the plant-filled walls of Dona Oa, the traces of the Sampaio Ferreira factory in Famalicão collected by A Recoletora, the videos and documents of Camiño Negro by Damián Ucieda and the meteorites accompanying a degree for the end of time by Eduardo Outeiro. Although different, they all help us to think about the times we live in: the weaknesses of the productive system, the anthropocentric frameworks that determine our relationship with the world and the survival of life in the ruins of capitalism.
We are looking for people with an interest in contemporary art practices, to collaborate as exhibition staff. The task to be carried out would be, above all, to serve as support for the visitors to make the exhibition more dynamic, as well as to check that the different technological devices work correctly on a day-to-day basis.
- Timetable: Monday to Friday in shifts of between one and a half and two hours, morning or afternoon. Mornings: 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. Afternoons: 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and from 7 p.m. to 8.30 p.m.

Faíscas Culturais
The Faíscas Culturais programme seeks to bring activities to university faculties and schools at the intersection between academic knowledge and the Vice-Chancellor’s Office's cultural activities. This year's faisca tour offers a serious reflection on climate change and the future of our planet.
In this sense, the intention is that, coinciding with the exhibition in the Fonseca Coffered Hall of the “Un rastro de furia y algas” exhibition, there will be a line of "cultural sparks" (round table, conference, open lecture room...) on the theme of climate change in relation to the field of studies of various faculties.
Collaboration by the psychology faculty consists of a "spark" called "How much do you think you know about environmental psychology? The Importance of Human Behaviour" which will take place on 29 November at 4.30 p.m. in the boardroom of the Faculty of Psychology. This spark, organised in collaboration with the student body, will consist of a "quiz" with information pills for participants to learn concepts of environmental psychology while having fun at the same time.
We are looking for people with an interest in psychology and sustainable practices to collaborate in the organisation of the activity, to help in the preparation and implementation of the activity. The task to be carried out would be, above all, to support the dynamisation of the activity, the search for relevant information for the participant profiles, as well as to provide logistical support on the day of the activity.
- Timetable: once a week, for an hour and a half in person, plus 2 hours of personal work each week until the activity is completed. Approximately 21 hours of voluntary work for this activity which takes place over 6 weeks.
- Places: 10.
