Course objectives
SUBJECTS SURGICAL IMPLANTOLOGY
Objectives
Have knowledge of the anatomy and physiology of the supporting tissues and the process of osseointegration. Ter
knowledge of therapeutic alternatives, types of prostheses supported or retained by implants and possibilities of
tissue modification.
Have knowledge and obtain or perform complementary records and tests to make a diagnosis.
TOPICS PROSTHETIC IMPLANTOLOGY
Course objectives
Know the different methods of Oral Implantology, the possibilities of its execution planning, together with the
prosthodontist and predict the final results of treatment.
He will acquire competence to know and handle the implantological instruments.
It will be able to acquire competence for the fundamental handling of the soft tissues that can favor, in the long term,
the goodness of the results of Implantology.
The student must acquire a method based on evidence and transmitted experience, which allows him to plan
correctly the rehabilitation of a certain partial / total toothless patient by means of dental prostheses on
implants.
CONTENTS SURGICAL IMPLANTOLOGY
1.History of implantology. Nomenclature and materials. Memory of anatomical structures related to
implantology.
2. Pathophysiology of the toothless and therapeutic alternatives. Physiology of bone repair and concepts of
osseointegration. Implant surface.
3.Presurgical diagnosis and planning of the surgical treatment of insertion of osseointegrated implants.
4. Indications and contraindications to the insertion of implants. Surgical technique. Complications.
5. Complementary surgery to implant surgery. Grafts. Maxillary sinus elevation.
6. Surgical options for cases of severe atrophy of the jaws. Surgical criteria for immediate loading.
7. Biology of periimplant tissues
- Comparative anatomy between periodontal and periimplant tissues
- Osteointegration and mucointegration
8. Infection of periimplant tissues:
- Mucositis
- Periimplantitis
9. Aesthetic complications
10. Maintenance in patients treated with implants
CONTENTS PROSTHETIC IMPLANTOLOGY
1. Generalities around Implantology. Indications and contraindications of Implantology. Work of the Implantology team. 2. Prognosis. Cost. Preparation of budget. Informed consent. Planning of the rehabilitation treatment of the toothless by implanted prosthesis. Treatment planning in overdentures. Retaining pillars and anchors. Planning the rehabilitation of partial toothlessness using PPF. Planning of the therapy of the total toothless in fixed implant-supported prosthesis. 3. Printing methods on two different types of commercial implants. Part 1: Cemented fixed prosthesis. Printing methods on two different types of commercial implants. Part 2: Screwed fixed prosthesis. Individual buckets. 4. Obtaining work models. Soft gum on replica implants / pillars. Intermaxillary relations: partial dentures. Intermaxillary relations: total prostheses. Different types of implant-supported unit prostheses. Fixed partial denture retained by implants. 5. Prosthetic technology in the manufacture of prostheses on implants. Testing and installation of different types of prosthesis on implants.

Skills
Be able to carry out a treatment plan, state it reasonably and carry out the clinical, surgical, prosthodontic and maintenance phases of cases of low difficulty (units with good tissue support and low aesthetic commitment and complete dentures implanted).
Be able to perform basic maintenance and a diagnosis of complications.
It will acquire competence to assess the situation of each patient in particular, to establish the therapeutic needs, indications, limitations, cost, communication with the patient and the Implantology team in their environment.
He will acquire competence to carry out guidelines for diagnosis, for complementary examinations, for surgical and prosthodontic therapy that will allow him to carry out a careful and adequate execution of the rehabilitation procedure.
You will be able to indicate and install the appropriate pillars and restraints in each situation.
You will acquire competence to obtain suitable working models installed in the correct diagnostic and treatment devices.
You will acquire competence to be able to install prostheses on at least two different types of dental implant systems.

Scenario 2
Teaching methodology.
Master classes and seminars will be modified to suit the needs of maintaining safe distances. To do this, there will be face-to-face and virtual teaching rotations.
In the resolution of cases and clinical practices, the shifts will be shortened so that all students have the opportunity to carry out the activities.
Evaluation
Continuous formative evaluation as the only criterion
"For cases of fraudulent execution of exercises or tests will be applied or collected in the Standard for the assessment of students' academic performance and review of grades."
Scenario 3
Teaching methodology
Virtually all teaching will take place through official tools such as equipment, tutorials and online videos.
Students will perform activities “remotely” both individually and in groups, conducting and presenting clinical cases, bibliographic search, and exposition of topics of interest.
Evaluation
Continuous formative evaluation as the only criterion
"For cases of fraudulent execution of exercises or tests will be applied or collected in the Standard for the assessment of students' academic performance and review of grades."
