With regard to the student COGNITIVE LEVEL MUST BE ABLE TO:
1 -. PROVE have adequate knowledge of the epidemiology, etiology and pathogenic mechanisms of anomalies, lesions and diseases affecting the oral mucosa, jaws and salivary glands, as well as orofacial neuromuscular pathology.
2 -. PROVE know the clinical manifestations of these processes and supporting procedures to enable it to reach a diagnosis.
3 -. ASSOCIATE such knowledge to specific situations that derive from clinical practice to establish a diagnosis.
4 -. FORMULAR individual prognosis, diagnosis under performing, or of a condition that the patient presents.
5 -. APPLY the most appropriate medical treatment for the condition, based on the established diagnosis and determine the monitoring of the patient.
. 7 - show understanding oral manifestations of systemic processes.
Within the student PSYCHOMOTOR FIELD TO BE ABLE TO:
1 -. PREPARE a complete medical history and systematized.
2 -. HOLDING complete dental examination, paying particular attention to the examination of the oral mucosa, salivary glands, jaw bones and temporomandibular joint and neuromuscular and neck exploration.
. 3 - PRACTICE the most common techniques to obtain additional information for diagnosis in Oral Medicine: Oral radiology techniques, biopsy of oral mucosa and minor salivary glands, saliva collection and sampling for microbiological study.
4 -. ADOPT in odontostomatological prática hygiene and preventive measures to prevent the transmission of infectious diseases.
Finally, in the FIELD OF ATTITUDES, the student must be able to:
1 -. ESTABLISH an appropriate relationship with the patient, based on the development of receptivity and capacity to respond to situations and considering it raises at all times on an individual basis.
2 -. ADOPT a scientific and critical approach to problems.

UNIT I. MEDICAL HISTORY AND EXPLORATION.
Concept of Oral Medicine
Overall clinical history and systematic examination of the patient. Medical history in stomatology. Technical examination of the oral cavity.
UNIT II. PATHOLOGY OF THE ORAL MUCOSA
Morfofuncional remember: structure, histology and physiology of the oral mucosa.
Basic lesions of the oral mucosa: macroscopic and microscopic.
Traumatic and iatrogenic lesions of the oral mucosa: mechanical, physical and chemical.
Bacterial diseases of the oral mucosa
Diseases of the oral mucosa caused by fungi: candidiasis and other mycoses
Viral diseases of the oral cavity
Exophytic benign lesions of the oral cavity.
Dyschromias or pigmentations of oral mucosa: Classification and Differential Diagnosis

SPECIFIC SKILLS.
1. Be competent to recognize and record the patient properly, by conducting a medical history, symptoms and signs of oral pathology
February. Indicate Be competent to make technical and diagnostic oral pathology, including intraoral radiology and biopsy included and be familiar with other diagnostic techniques.

Having sufficient knowledge of the pathology of the oral mucosa, salivary gland pathology, pathology of the jaws, orofacial pain and oral manifestations of systemic diseases, in order to interpret the clinical data of the patient and establishing a diagnosis and prognosis of these, and indicate if medical treatment or refer the patient to the appropriate professional if necessary
April. Be competent to participate in the diagnosis and appropriately refer a patient with potentially serious diseases such as oral cancer or oral systemic impact.
PRESENTIAL
The theoretical program will be given through master classes.
The seminars will discuss clinical cases adapted to the contents of the program as well as the analysis and solution of problems interactively between students and the teacher.
In laboratory and clinical practices, the knowledge acquired will be applied in a practical way.
In the tutorials the teacher will personally attend to the students to guide them and resolve any doubts they may have. The tutorials will be essentially face-to-face, although they may be carried out electronically
Attendance at 90% of the practical activity and 80% of the theoretical activity is compulsory
- Compulsory attendance at 90% of the practical activity and 80% of the theoretical classes to pass the subject.
- Continuous evaluation: Participation and the acquisition of knowledge, attitudes and skills necessary to obtain the expected competences will be valued throughout the course, both in face-to-face and personal work. It will correspond to 30% of the final grade.
-2 Written tests of short questions (at the end of each semester). A grade of 6.5 out of 10 will be required to pass each one. It will correspond to 70% of the final grade.
-Practical exam through the presentation of clinical cases for students who have not passed the practical part of the subject or is deemed necessary for different reasons.

- Patients will be addressed under the SUPERVISION OF PROFESSOR OF PRACTICE.
- You must attend the patient with the RIGHT PROTECTION by the student, ie, clean gown, mask and disposable gloves, being highly recommended the use of goggles.
