- Provide theoretical knowledge and skills in solving problems on operations governed by the transfer of matter. It is intended to show the student the common treatment for these operations, enabling him to start the study of other operations in this group by himself. Study of design fundamentals and methodologies
-Identify teams based on intermittent and continuous contact. Distinguish the main characteristics and advantages in its use.
.- Give a global and real vision of the teams in which these operations are carried out.

BASIC AND GENERAL
CG1 - Know the most important concepts, methods and results of the different branches of Biotechnology.
CG2 - Apply the theoretical-practical knowledge acquired in the formulation of problems and the search for their solutions in both academic and professional contexts.
CG3 - Know how to obtain and interpret relevant information and results and obtain conclusions on issues related to Biotechnology.
CG4 - Be able to transmit information both in writing and orally and to debate ideas, problems and solutions related to Biotechnology, before a general or specialized public.

SPECIFIC
CE6 - Be able to analyze and design biotechnological industrial processes and apply them to product improvement.
CE7 - Have knowledge about balances and transfers of matter and energy, applied thermodynamics and separation operations, as well as knowing how to apply them to solving engineering problems.
CE8 - Identify and develop the unit operations of Chemical Engineering integrating them with the biological foundations

- The lectures will be devoted to the presentation of the theoretical contents of the subject and the resolution of problems by the teacher, always with the active participation of the students and with the support of audiovisual tools.
.- The seminars will be held at the end of the presentation of the topics. In them, students individually or in groups, will solve a problem related to the finished topic, which will be delivered and considered for the final evaluation.
.- Carrying out the practicals in the computer room is mandatory. At the end of them, the student will be asked to deliver a simulation problem that will be considered for the final evaluation.
.- There will be two group tutorials, both at the end of the semester. They will be dedicated to solving doubts proposed by the student or presented by the teacher, to carrying out individual or group activities. They may be theoretical in content related to the subject and / or problem solving, which will be delivered.
.- Virtual Campus will be used as a teaching support tool.
.- The student may also make the queries he wishes in individualized tutorials at the time established for this purpose.
In the interactive sessions of the Computer Room (compulsory attendance), problems of matter transfer operations will be solved using Aspen-Hysys and / or SuperproDesigner. The work developed in each session must be delivered in the Virtual Classroom of the matter.

- Exam at the end of the semester (Theory: 30%, Problems 70%): 65% of the mark
- Attendance and Participation in class 10% of the grade
- Seminars with the delivery of proposed problems 10% of the grade
- Tutorials: 5% of the grade
- Computer room with the delivery of proposed simulation exercises 10% of the grade
The student, to pass the subject, must achieve a minimum grade of 3.5 out of 10, in each and every one of the assessable parts.
The grades of the activities, tutorials and computer room will be communicated to the student before the exam
The marks of these sections will be kept for the second opportunity, keeping the assessment of the exam 65% of the overall mark.

In general, the evaluation system will be the same, regardless of the scenario in which the course is developed (face-to-face or virtual), with the only difference that the evaluation activities will be carried out, as established by the competent authorities, or in person in the classroom or remotely through the telematic means available at USC.
In cases of fraudulent performance of exercises or tests, the provisions of the "Regulations for the validation of academic performance for two students and for the review of qualifications" shall apply.

The Virtual Classroom (on the USC web platform) will be used as a repository for the documentation on the subject.
In the case of telematic teaching, it will be necessary to have a computer with a microphone and camera to carry out the telematic activities scheduled throughout the course.

METHODOLOGY
Contingency plan for remote teaching activities (Scenarios 2-distancing or Scenario 3-confinement):
The lecture classes on stage 2, as well as the lecture and interactive classes on stage 3, will be held synchronously and always according to the schedule established by the center, through the different telematic means available at the USC. The individualized tutorials will be carried out through the subject's Virtual Classroom forum (Moodle-Virtual Campus), MS-Teams video call or by email in scenarios 2 and 3.
EVALUATION SYSTEM
The evaluation system will be the same, regardless of the setting, with the only difference that the evaluation activities will be carried out, as established by the competent authorities, either in person in the classroom or remotely through the telematic means available at the USC.
In the case of developing all the course activities in an adapted normal scenario, the activities will be face-to-face. Seminars and
tutorials can be on line.
In the event that a distancing scenario is applied (scenario 2), the lectures and group tutorials will be carried out electronically and synchronously through the MS-Teams tool. In the event that the teaching facilities are closed (scenario 3), all activities will be carried out electronically (MS-Teams for synchronous activities and Moodle for asynchronous activities)
