- To give an overview of biology that allows all students, regardless of prior knowledge they have, more easily understand those aspects of their studies more closely related to living things.
- To understand that the study of life is complex and diverse and that must be dealt with interrelated concepts, considering that even they break up for the purposes of their study, the biological systems form an integrated whole.

With respect to the Biology subject, the student will demonstrate:
- Understand the importance of the application of knowledge of Physics in Biology.
- Knowledge, reasoning and argumentation of basic theoretical concepts of Biology.
- Recognize the molecular bases and levels of organization presented by living beings.
- Relate the structure and function of the main groups of biomolecules and the main cellular components; as well as identifying the characteristics of the cell as a functional unit of life.
- Know, analyze and assess the processes of transformation of matter and energy that take place in living beings

Basic and General

A course will be activated on the Moodle platform of the Virtual Campus, to which information of interest to the student will be uploaded, as well as teaching material.
The lectures will be taught in large groups for a total of 29 one-hour sessions, in the official class time. In them the basics of the subjects that make up the program of the course will be explained.
The interactive seminar classes are taught in small groups for 24 sessions of one hour. Completing the knowledge explained in the lectures, will be proposed and solved applications of theory, problems, exercises, assignments, ....
Tutorial sessions are held throughout the course in several one-hour sessions in very small groups at times that will be set at the beginning of the academic course. In these sessions will be proposed activities such as clarification of doubts about theory, problems, exercises, readings, ….
Scenario 2
Moodle and / or Teams platforms will be used for teaching.
The lectures will be telematic, keeping the official class schedule, and synchronous (except that due to supervening causes they must be asynchronous, in which case the students will be notified in advance).
Interactive seminar
If the measures adopted by the health authorities allow it, the interactive classes will be face-to-face respecting the official class schedule approved by the center.
If the limitation of capacity dictated by the health authorities does not allow all the students to attend the interactive face-to-face classes, these will be carried out in streming, or telematically.
During the seminars, activities may be proposed that will affect both the students present in the classroom and in streming.
Tutorials: Whether they are done in person or online, they will require an appointment.
Scenario 3
Moodle and / or Teams platforms will be used for teaching.
Teaching in all cases will be telematic and classes will be held synchronously during official class time. It may be that, due to unforeseen causes, some of the classes take place asynchronously, which will be communicated to the students in advance.
Scenarios 1 y 2
The assesment system will be based on continuous training of students. For the continuous assessment, student attendance is obligatory to 80% the interactive seminar classes, either in person or remotely, if the health situation so requires..
The final assessment will be the higher of the grades obtained by the following methods:
- Method 1. Weighted average of the final examination grade and the grade obtained through continuous evaluation.
There will be one final examination in the official date and the grade obtained will constitute 70% of the total grade. It will be necessary to achieve a minimal grade of 40% in this exam in order to add the continuous evaluation grade.
The attendance with active participation, as well as the elaboration of exercises of continuous evaluation, will constitute 30% rest of the final qualification (maximum 3.0 points).
- Method 2. The assessment will be based only on the final examination and its grade will be the total grade in the subject.
In both cases, to overcome the matter there is needed a note equal or superior to 50 % of the maximum note.

In-person assessment activities that cannot be carried out in this way, and cannot be delayed, will be carried out electronically using the institutional tools in Office 365 and Moodle. In this case, it will require the adoption of a series of measures that will require that the student have a device with a microphone and a camera while there is no adequate assessment software.
In cases of fraudulent performance of exercises or tests, the provisions of the Regulations for the assessment of two academic performance and the review of qualifications will apply.
- Lectures: 29 h.
