The methodology will combine expository class with active and participative approaches, autonomous work and self-learning. Classroom activities with the whole class group will introduce and explain the topics, clarifying the fundamental concepts and guiding the performance of works and other activities, providing an overview of the contents of the different blocks, linking knowledge to create meaningful learning. In group interactive activities it will be dealt with in detail the issues introduced in the theoretical lessons through lectures, reviews of documents, case studies, debates and work performance. Students, using various resources, will learn how to manage different sources of information which optimize the integration of theory and practice, based on specific experiences and situations, will learn how to solve problems and develop projects and reports, comparing different points of view, supported by their peers and mediation of the teacher, fostering a motivating, responsible and cooperative work, promoting meaningful learning. The completion of the tasks and resources will be introduced to students during the corresponding sessions. Small groups will focus on problem solving, clarification of doubts and monitoring the work elaboration process.
According to the subject syllabus in the degree report, the assessment will take into account the following aspects:
1. Classroom participation (15%)
2. Specific tests (50%)
3. Written reports and other productions (30%)
4. Oral presentations and free activities related to the contents of the subject (5%)
In order to get a positive assessment on the subject it will be necessary to have carried out on the due dates all the assessment activities specified as well as passing all of them.
Individual and group works must be original. Handing in a copied work will mean failing the subject and the student has to re-sit in the following session.
For assessment purposes, the same work cannot be used for several subjects, except for those activities scheduled in a coordinated form.
Expository hours: 24
Interactive Hours: 24
Tutorial Hours: 3
Total attendance hours: 51
Student’s work hours: 99
Total hours dedicated to the subject: 150
The students who take this subject will have to carry out a careful and critical reading of the texts suggested by teachers, so they could accurately handle the concepts of discipline and its practical applications. It would be advisable that students be actively involved in the classroom tasks proposed. We recommend using tutorial sessions for any questions that may arise and to get clarification, support and guidelines to facilitate the learning of the subject, carrying out the assigned tasks, etc. The constant work on the subject as well as personal study constitute a fundamental pillar in the learning process.
USC is an attendance-modality university; therefore the attendance to a minimum of 80% of the class sessions is compulsory. In cases specified by the University regulation students could claim the official exemption from teaching. In such cases the student should contact the teachers at the beginning of the course to know the specific guidelines to fulfil the syllabus and passing the subject.
