1. To know the theoretical approaches that support the intervention in crisis and the trauma of the victims.
2. Know the different crises that may have to face people throughout the life cycle.
3. Identify the psychological repercussions of trauma.
4. Identify the stages of crisis/trauma development, personal and contextual factors that influence their evolution and responses to trauma.
5. Analyze the objectives and the role of professionals in crisis intervention.
6. Learn to plan and carry out the appropriate psychological intervention to the case.
7. Obtain specialized information on the subject and be able to interpret it critically.
1. Introductory aspects.
Some interesting data. Historical perspective. Conceptual clarifications: types of crises and traumas; the overall crisis response; intervention modalities. Response model in traumatic situations.
2. The victims.
Victim classification. Reactions of victims. Post-trauma psychological consequences. Mediating factors of vulnerability and protection.
3. Procedure of action and characteristics of the evaluation.
Roles and general functions of the team of psychologists. General assessment of the event. Activation of the intervention. Assessment of affected people. What and how is it evaluated.
4. Intervention in emergency psychology.
Principles of the intervention. General measures of action on immediate symptoms: Psychological First Aid.
5. Intervention in crisis and trauma: preventing and addressing sequelae.
Pharmacotherapy for agitation. Defusing and Debriefing. Intervention on acute post-traumatic sequelae. Intervention in specific disorders resulting from trauma.
6. Special intervention situations.
Communication of bad news. Identification of corpses. Intervention with minors. Suicidal behaviors.

CB10 - Students have the learning skills that allow them to continue studying in a way that will be largely self-directed or autonomous.
CG6 - To know in depth the different models of evaluation and intervention in the field of General Sanitary Psychology, as well as the techniques and procedures derived from them for the management of behavioral disorders and the psychological factors associated with health problems .
CG7 - To plan, carry out and, if necessary, supervise the process of psychological evaluation of human behavior and the psychological factors associated with health problems in order to establish their evaluation.
CG8 - To design, develop and, if necessary, supervise and evaluate plans and programs of psychological intervention, depending on the psychological evaluation and the variables of individual and social type that concur in each case.
CG9 - Demonstrate interpersonal communication and emotional management skills for effective interaction with patients, families and caregivers in problem identification, assessment, diagnosis communication, and psychological intervention and follow-up.

CE3 - Know how to select and apply the techniques and evaluation instruments that are most suitable for each case according to their characteristics and context.
CE5 - Know how to choose and apply the most appropriate psychological intervention techniques according to their purpose (prevention, rehabilitation, counseling, counseling, etc.).
CE6 - Know how to plan and develop a psychological intervention, setting pertinent and realistic objectives based on the characteristics of the problem and the context.
CE7 - Know how to follow a psychological intervention, in accordance with the established goals, to introduce, if necessary, changes in it during its development.
CE8 - Know how to provide feedback to the recipients in an appropriate and precise way in order to involve them in the different phases of the process of psychological evaluation and intervention.
- Expository method / Master class
The expositive classes serve to introduce and guide the development of the different contents of the program. In the classes a theoretical exposition of the most important contents of each one of the topics of the program is carried out, which are explained with the help of slides. Class attendance is mandatory.
- Practical activities
Assignments, interactive virtual tasks, discussion sessions, clinical cases with different types of victims, role-playing, practical exercises and dealing with special situations, constitute interactive activities that complement the theoretical content and are mandatory. The work on specific traumas will be carried out in the format of small group seminars and will deal with the intervention of a specific trauma that each group will select at the beginning of the course and deliver/present in the last sessions of the classes. The remaining practical tasks will be carried out individually, both face-to-face and online; In this case, controversial issues in the field will be addressed, intervention for cases of primary and secondary victims, representation of roles with defusing/debriefing techniques, tasks to strengthen concepts, discussion sessions on two films whose plot is trauma and therapeutic approach in different “special” cases of crises.
- As support for the subject, the virtual classroom, which will be available on the USC Virtual Campus, will collect the basic material of the most relevant theoretical contents of the field, as well as optional material to delve into some aspects of interest. In addition, part of the interactive activities will be carried out, via telematics, through the virtual classroom.
- The theory will be assessed through an exam, which will consist of an objective multiple choice test. This test will be carried out on the official date established for Master's exams and has a weight in the final grade of 50% (10 = 5). It is also possible to make a continuous evaluation of the theoretical contents of the subject; In this case, the official exam may be replaced, if there is consensus among the students, by two objective tests (multiple-choice questionnaires) that would be carried out, the first, at the end of lesson 3 and the second, after lesson 6.
- The interactive part will be evaluated according to the different activities that the student must carry out throughout the course. Therefore, the remaining 50% of the note (5 points) will be obtained taking into account, in addition to class attendance and participation in them, the performance of different practical tasks. Specifically, the cooperative work on traumas accounts for 1.5 points, the reports on two films 1 point, and the remaining activities (practical cases, virtual tasks, exercises...) 2.5 points.
Assistance to face-to-face activities: 24h. (Master classes: 15h., Interactive classes: 8h., Tutorials in small groups: 1h.).
Non-presential work: 51 h. This should be distributed between study activities (18h.), preparation of seminars on trauma (15h.), preparation of papers and reports (18h.).
The student should have, for a good use of this subject, with basic knowledge of Psychopathology and Psychological Treatments.
