Dear colleagues from Atlas Linguarum Europae, as you probably remember, the possibility of celebrating 2017’s Congress in Santiago de Compostela (Galicia, Spain), was already put forward in the meeting held in Sofia back in June 2015. In Londonderry’s Symposium (2016), further details about this prospective event were disclosed, and the second half of the month of May was regarded as the most suitable schedule for the meeting.
Taking advantage of the fact that most of the members of the Romanian Committee for ALE are also members of the research group in charge of the Atlas Linguistique Roman, it seems appropriate to organize a joint event for both the ALE Congress and the Congress of the Atlas Linguistique Roman, as has already been done in Italy some years ago. The expected dates for the event to take place are June 20-22, 2017. Papers on ALE will be presented on the 20th and the morning of the 21st, while those dealing with ALiR will be scheduled for the afternoon of the 21st and the complete day on the 22th. All participants are kindly invited to join on a cultural visit programmed for the morning of the 23rd.
We need to know with some urgency how many people are going to take part in the Congress. The organizers would be most grateful if you could inform them about your intention to attend the event by February 15 th, even though registration will remain open until February 28 th. To that end, please, use the registration form available in the congress web page (http://www.usc.es/filrom/congresos/congreso-internacional-do-ale/registration), indicating whether you are interested in giving a paper related to ALE or not. Researchers only attending the ALE Congress must fill in the registration form for that congress. Those also attending the ALiR meeting must also fill in an independent form for this purpose.
All participants are welcome to stay at the University’s hall of residence (“Burgo das Nacións”) from June 19th onwards. Those who are interested in doing so must fill in the accommodation form available in the Congress web page, where dates for arrival and departure must be specified. Those who should prefer to stay in a hotel will have to bear all accommodation costs, but can contact the organization with any queries they might have regarding the booking process. A list including some highlighted alternative accommodation options is accessible through the web page of the Congress.
The organization cannot bear any of the participants’ travel expenses. In the web, you will find information about the fares of the bus connecting the airport and the city centre and recommended bus stops. Information on the price of taxi rides to / from the airport will be also made available through the web.
We highly recommend you to channel all your requests, suggestions, or comments on the Congress through the web page.
