Summary
Traditional music is presented in the current context as one of the greatest reflections of society. Thanks to the female musicians, who allowed popular “coplas” and songs to reach our times through transmission from grandmothers to granddaughters, these forms of music are preserved, and today they possess a wealthy cultural heritage. Thus, this work is based on a study of the world of traditional music, focusing specifically on Vimianzo, one of the largest centers on Costa da Morte. In this context, we investigate the customs, the spaces where it was played, the socialization that existed previously in rural Galicia, and how these encounters between female musicians arose, giving rise to what is known as “foliadas”. In addition, we conduct a study of the most commonly played instruments in the heart of Terra de Soneira: from the most well-known (bagpipes and tambourines) to rudimentary instruments (shells or spoons). In this way, the popular “coplas” of the area are compiled, paying attention to their themes and the data provided by the informants, to delve into different areas of society such as customs, changes and the idiosyncrasies of the Galician people.

This Final Degree Project offers a historical and architectural analysis of the sea bathing and spa phenomenon in A Coruña, accompanied by the development of European health tourism between the 19th and 20th centuries. Based on a bibliographic and documentary study (articles, books, newspapers, travel guides, postcards, maps, and photographs), the author presents the birth of health tourism in Spain, which eventually transformed beaches into a fashionable and wellness destination. The first models of bathing establishments, their typology, and architecture are examined in detail, with national examples (Santander and Alicante) being used as a comparative framework. At the local level, the main facilities in the city of A Coruña are described: La Primitiva, Casa de Baños 'Flotante', Balneario da Beneficencia Municipal, La Salud, and La Perfecta. Their role in coastal urban planning, tourism promotion, and the construction of the city's image is also addressed. Finally, it reflects on the reasons for its partial obscurity, the traces it leaves in the collective imagination, and proposes strategies for preserving its heritage. It concludes by highlighting the importance of strengthening collective awareness for its preservation

Lothar was an extreme atmospheric phenomenon that crossed the North Atlantic and Europe in less than 48 hours. Its formation and development were the result of an anomaly in sea surface temperature and a highly intense and straight Polar Jet Stream caused by a significant contrast in pressure and temperature between the Azores High and a low-pressure system originating from the Icelandic Low. To study its origin and assess whether the likelihood of such episodes might increase, the thermal conditions of the North Atlantic and the Arctic ice cover are analyzed, as they are direct and indirect factors contributing to the causes of Lothar's formation, along with the forecasts that the IPCC's AR6 offers us.

In this dissertation we will analyse the coup-related violence implemented since the coup d´état of July 18, 1936 through the work of military trials, focusing, with a micro perspective, on genre specifities. Firstly, we will analyse in what consisted the “judicialization of coup-related violence”, studying in more detail its main tool: summary trials. We will examine the features which defined these trials and, especially, the reasons that motivated their establishment. In order to continue, from a broad pespective, we will revise, the elements which made a difference between coup-related violence against women from that against men. Once we have finished the historiographical study, we will study in detail the Urania Mella Serrano´s military proceedings, which will let us analyse the operating genre logics in the people involved in the judicial procedings (perpetrators, witnesses and victim), trying to elucidate the reasons which motivated their social attitudes.

This thesis offers a comparative analysis of testimonial literature and cinema in relation to the memory of the Lager (Nazi concentration camp), focusing on the specific languages of each medium. Through the study of a selection of key works (Primo Levi’s and Elie Wiesel’s accounts, Art Spiegelman’s graphic novel Maus, and the films Son of Saul, The Grey Zone, and The Zone of Interest) it examines central themes of Holocaust horror. First, it explores the representation of the body and hunger as strategies of dehumanization employed in the Lager; second, it investigates the subject’s position within this environment; and finally, it addresses the challenge of representing the unrepresentable, contrasting the stylistic simplicity and symbolism of prose with the visual strategies of cinema. Ultimately, the thesis highlights the moral complexity that permeates all these works, including the survivor’s guilt. Each of these pieces, through their own medium and particular approach, shares the commitment to preserving a critical and truthful memory of the Holocaust; one that directly confronts the viewer or reader.

This monographic work is born from the interest of deepening in the new possibilities, interpretations and contents that the photographic medium brings to art history, and has as main objective to address the work of the american photographer Cindy Sherman. Her long career and extensive artistic production is characterized by the use of herself in the entire artistic process (both at a physical and intellectual level), the use of characterization elements and the use of self-portrait/ portrait. These characteristics allow us to address and investigate issues such as the problem of the imposition of labels in traditional historical-artistic discourse or the interpretative complexity of photographic production. As well as delving into elements such as performativity in photography, the construction of identity and its relationship with stereotypes and media. Besides analyzing the possibilities that the game brings with the clothing and elements of characterization in art.

Summary
River headwaters frequently feature several converging branches, making it difficult to identify the main course versus tributaries. This study aims to determine the main branches in five Galician rivers: Arnoia, Barbaña, Burbia, Ladra, and Selmo. To do so, a multicriteria analysis based on eight variables is used, each weighted according to its hydrological relevance. The total score for each branch, resulting from the weighted sum of the various parameters, allows for comparisons within each headwater. The data used were obtained using Geographic Information Systems tools. Proposals are made for sustainable headwater management in the context of global change and anthropic pressures, with the aim of improving the monitoring and conservation of water resources.

The aim of this paper is to demonstrate that the idea of Paradise in Western medieval Christianity not only forms an attractive image due to its beauty, but also, under its perfection it fulfills specific functions for the medieval mentality. For this society, Paradise becomes its highest aspiration. Belief in it not only entails the certainty of an idea of Good and happiness after the Last Judgment, but also supports the possibility of a salvific hope that gives meaning to daily vicissitudes and sacrifices. In order to carry out these reflections on the function of Paradise in the Western Middle Ages, we will first analyze its forms of representation in artistic, literary, cartographic or botanical works. We will also appreciate its less figurative characteristics, such as those related to space or time, and we will consider its sensory and natural aesthetics.

The Cruu Family: An Approach to the Mercantile Bourgeoisie in 15th-Century Pontevedra

As an emerging social class, the bourgeoisie played a fundamental role in the social, political, and economic transformation of late medieval Europe. In the town of Pontevedra, and even in the broader Galician territory between the 14th and 15th centuries, the Cruu family serves as a paradigm of municipal power and the operation of oligarchies. With origins tied to the commercial and artisanal world in the early part of the century, the family would eventually become part of a powerful urban patriciate by the 1400s. In this study, we will analyze the strategy followed by the family group in accumulating a large fortune, based on mercantile activity and the buying and selling of real estate, and how this translated into clear political influence in the local core. With family members regularly holding municipal offices, they ultimately attained the status of hidalgos. This condition was reinforced through public symbols and strategies by which they expressed their status and way of life.

This paper deal with chess as another tool used during the Cold War, as for the Soviet Union or for the United States, the board demonstrated intellectual superiority. Throughout the assignment, the role of chess in the contextual framework of propaganda and culture in the Cold War will be explained. How the interests of the two large blocks influence the results on the board. At the end the aim is to analyze which was the importance of the Cold War inside chess or the role that this one developed related to the conflict. So we will began with an introduction in which we are going to explain the logic that the cultural propaganda followed in the Cold War and the function the CIA and the KGB accomplished in this field. We will add a point of the assignment to talk about whether chess was a game for the mass or an intellectual elite. From this point it will start a chronological path, starting in 1917, when October Revolution’s events were going to change the occurs of contemporary chess. Then addressing Korchnoi’s story, as one of those Soviet defectors, playing under another country flag. After Second World War, it will be addressed the Soviet control over the World Chess Championship (1948-1972), through Botvinnik and then the wide known «Match of the century» (1972), with the first victory from a North American player in contemporary chess. Coming to an end on the internal USSR clash on the board, between Karpov and Kasparov (1975-1990), that concluded with the last game in Lyon.

In this context of institutional vacuum and factional struggles for power, a transcendental phenomenon emerged for the construction of a new order in independent Latin America: caudillismo. This system was characterized by the presence of caudillos, political strongmen who assumed power in a given territory where democratic institutions were still embryonic. In this paper we will analyze the emergence of caudillismo at a general level in Latin America at the time, and then exemplify the issue with a single caudillo, the Argentinean Juan Manuel de Rosas. The figure of Rosas will be used to exemplify how such a regime developed at the political, social, economic, cultural and religious levels, using a perspective that identifies with the historiography of recent times, trying to see the caudillos (Rosas in this case) as products of their context and time that played a key role in the consolidation of republican Latin America.
Since 1810, the processes of independence of the different Latin American territories that were part of the Spanish Empire gave way to a new political situation in which the colonial structures of government and administration were no longer in place and something had to be created anew. Oscar Niemeyer and Luis Barragán emerge as iconic figures of contemporary architecture in Brazil and Mexico, respectively. Both Pritzker Prize laureates have grounded their works in modernity, nature and a deep love for their homeland, thus forging the essence and creative freedom of their work. Despite sharing these fundamental principles, their approaches diverge sharply both visually and structurally. Given the vast amount of Niemeyer's works in comparison to those of the Mexican architect, this study will focus on the dwellings as a subject of analysis. It will examine from his beginnings and the theories applied during his studies, to the distinctive characteristics and precepts that define his most emblematic works. In the case of Luis Barragán, these characteristics converge in the Casa Luis Barragán and the Cuadras de San Cristóbal, while in Niemeyer they stand out in the Casa das Canoas. Both architects integrate nature into their works, but they do so in contrasting ways. Barragán approaches it with a reverent sensibility, placing the human being in a humble position in front of nature. Niemeyer, on the other hand, imposes himself on the natural environment, emphasizing his buildings, which seek to occupy a preeminent space in the landscape.

This study aims to analyze and challenge the aesthetic and bodily ideals perpetuated by the fashion system through different dynamics. Based on a bibliographical review, it examines the sociocultural and media factors that have contributed, particularly since the 1980s, to the consolidation of a distorted perception of the body. This approach also facilitates a reflection on contemporary notions of beauty and recognizes fashion as a vehicle of expression and a tool for identity construction, which is conditioned by external agents. Based on this, and through a qualitative approach, the research confronts the dominant aesthetic canon by analyzing the careers and creative work of four highly influential designers in the contemporary fashion industry, whose work plays a critical role in challenging and expanding the boundaries of conventional beauty standards. By examining a representative selection of their designs, this study highlights a significant departure from what is traditionally understood as fashion, promoting the emergence of alternative discourses. Although these may be perceived as unsettling or provocative, they open up new spaces that promote greater diversity and inclusivity. In this way, their designs serve as transgressive elements that encourage a critical attitude towards the traditional values upheld by the fashion system, questioning deeply rooted notions about body representation. With all this, these study invites us to reconsider established prejudices and explore alternative ways of understanding beauty, not as a singular and exclusive ideal, but as a fluid and respectful concept that embraces a multiplicity of perspectives. Therefore, even though the canonical discourse continues to have strength within the fashion system, the continuity of subversive proposals such as those analysed in this study, contribute to preparing the way towards a future in which this field is less conditioned by the gaze of others and closer to the complex and diverse reality of contemporary society.

This study denounces how art history has served to construct and maintain a patriarchal vision of prostitution and its key elements. Therefore, the analysis of images, from Greek ceramics to contemporary cinema, is based on a feminist abolitionist perspective. Consequently, through surviving authors and other artists on the margins of the canon, a reinterpretation of the visual narrative that gives voice to the victims is proposed. The study highlights the need to revisit the iconography that legitimizes prostitution as a show of games and lights, exploring the role of the male gaze and structural violence.

This dissertation analyses the evolution of Galician maritime trade between the 16th and 18th centuries, with special attention to the role of its main ports in European and Atlantic exchanges. Galicia went from an economy based on products such as wine and sardines, aimed at the European market, to a gradual integration into the colonial trade with America. The opening of the port of A Coruña in 1764 and the Free Trade Decrees of 1778 marked a turning point that allowed routes to be established with the Caribbean, New Spain and the River Plate. We also see the role of local and foreign merchants who favoured the circulation of colonial products and European manufactures. Although structural limitations persisted, Galicia managed to insert itself into the Atlantic trading system from a peripheral position in the Hispanic Monarchy.

The concept of the Military Revolution is a controversial topic within historiography, giving rise to various academic debates. These discussions focus on the changes experienced by the art of war during the late Middle Ages and much of the modern period, with particular focus on chronological precision and the consequences derived from these changes. Based on this premise, this paper aims to carry out a historiographical review of the debate surrounding the so called Military Revolution. This study aims to analyze the funerary ensembles of the medieval clergy preserved in Galicia, in order to observe the evolution of funerary art throughout the medieval period. A selection of tombs is examined, with particular attention paid to their artistic, iconographic, historical, and social aspects, understanding each as the result of specific personal and contextual conditions. The study deliberately excludes the tombs of bishops and archbishops, as their artistic prominence and the high status of the individuals they commemorate have already been the subject of extensive scholarly research.

Within the global context of the Early Modern period, royal porcelain manufactories succeeded in imitating the quality of porcelain produced in China from the eighteenth century onwards. Collecting, driven by European elites and monarchies, with a prominent involvement of women, led to the dissemination of new typologies and iconographic repertoires in the field of the decorative arts. This study examines the historical and artistic evolution of industrial porcelain production in Europe during the eighteenth century. To support the analysis of this development, two databases have been compiled: one chronological and geographical register of the manufactories, and another dedicated to the documentation of porcelain objects held in museum and private collections accessible online.

The central focus of this study is the evolution of the canon of female beauty and its projection into the representation of women in contemporary advertising. Starting from the theoretical analysis of authors such as Laura Mulvey and John Berger, key issues such as the male gaze, the objectification of the female body and the symbolic mechanisms that have conditioned and still condition its representation are analyzed. From these considerations, the concept of femvertising is approached as an advertising strategy that seeks to challenge traditional representations by building a more diverse and realistic female image. Also counting on an applied survey of the public and analysis of their responses, which allow us to understand the extent to which these stereotypes persist and their impact on today’s society. In the final phase, a case study is developed through three recent campaigns illustrating the influence of classical canon and new approaches on female representation. The objective of this work is to clearly show how the canon has been shaping the image of women which, despite certain advances, is still an object of dispute in which the power dynamics inherited from patriarchal symbolic constructions are maintained.

The art of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood flourished in the late 19th century in the United Kingdom as a protest movement against the rigidity that prevailed in the academy of the time. Its main members -Dante Gabriel Rossetti, William Holman Hunt and John Everett Millais-advocated a return to the inspiration of the medieval past, moving away from the prevailing conventionalisms. Their aesthetic proposal was based on the exaltation of nature, promoting a strong cult of truth, beauty and spirituality. The female figure emerges as one of the most relevant features of the Pre-Raphaelite aesthetic, represented through portraits of women with simian physical features and charged with sensuality, illness and death. This ideal crystallizes in the figure of the Femme fatale, a dangerous lady closely linked to mystery and the world of death. The Pre-Raphaelite legacy extended beyond its time, leaving a deep mark on later movements such as symbolism or Art Nouveau. Their aesthetics have profoundly influenced the construction of a canon of beauty that has affected and continues to affect different areas of the society that surrounds us.

Summary
This paper will deal with the repression of Galician women in Franco's prisons. We will review the evolution and construction of the penitentiary system and then focus on the specificities of the repression exercised on women and show their reality inside Franco's prisons. Special attention will be paid to the Galician cases, where the convicted women had to leave Galicia, due to the lack of central prisons, to serve their sentences in multiple prisons located throughout Spain. Hunger, insalubrity, epidemics, overcrowding and violence were the daily life of these women prisoners in these prisons, whose aim was the moral and social reeducation of these women. Of importance in this work are the testimonies left by some of the women prisoners after their time in prison, thus contributing to the recovery of the historical memory of these women, often forgotten and silenced.
This paper will deal with the repression of Galician women in Franco's prisons. We will review the evolution and construction of the penitentiary system and then focus on the specificities of the repression exercised on women and show their reality inside Franco's prisons. Special attention will be paid to the Galician cases, where the convicted women had to leave Galicia, due to the lack of central prisons, to serve their sentences in multiple prisons located throughout Spain. Hunger, insalubrity, epidemics, overcrowding and violence were the daily life of these women prisoners in these prisons, whose aim was the moral and social reeducation of these women. Of importance in this work are the testimonies left by some of the women prisoners after their time in prison, thus contributing to the recovery of the historical memory of these women, often forgotten and silenced.

This article analyzes the role of medieval devotional images preserved in the Cathedral of Santiago and the Cathedral Museum. Combining artistic, liturgical, and historical sources, it examines how these pieces served as sacred objects. Beyond their aesthetic function, these representations were conceived as bearers of presence, capable of mediating between the divine and the human. These sculptures were essential elements in structuring the religious, visual, and communal experience of the Jacobean cult. Their symbolic and ritual effectiveness made them essential for the practice of liturgy, both individual and collective.

Summary
The Spanish Civil War was an event of international interest. Linked to a wide literary production of different types, we can find the memoirs of those who lived through the Spanish events that took place between 1936 and 1939. Giving rise to a narrative focused on various aspects, such as the international dimension of the conflict, the motivations of the conflict, and the effect of the war on the civilian population. Aspects strongly influenced by subjective elements, derived from the own ideology and the image built about the Spanish based on prejudices and stereotypes. These are part of the elements that constitute the national image projected on Spain and the Spanish people, to shape the interpretation and conception of the civil war.

This paper offers a reexamination of the Movimiento Nacionalista Tacuara (MNT), moving beyond conventional interpretations that frame it solely as a far-right youth group. Instead, it is approached as a local expression of a broader transnational phenomenon: the rise of revolutionary nationalism during the 1960s, which borrowed rhetoric, strategies, and organizational models from both traditional right-wing and emerging leftist movements. Drawing on David Rapoport’s theory of political violence waves and Nicolas Lebourg’s work on revolutionary nationalism, this study argues that the MNT was a space marked by internal contradictions, ideological shifts, and continual redefinition. Through its various splits (the GRN, the MNA, and the MNRT) we observe different paths of radicalization, ranging from Catholic nationalism to revolutionary leftism. Rather than being a historical anomaly or a footnote to other political processes, Tacuara is analyzed here as a relevant actor in the evolution of Argentine youth militancy, shaped by both global ideological trends and local political tensions. This approach allows for a more nuanced understanding of the group’s trajectory and invites reflection on how, in times of crisis, the boundaries between left and right can become porous, giving rise to hybrid political identities that defy simple classification.

The funerary effigy constitutes one of the prevalent forms of commemoration during the medieval period, but while recumbent effigies are ubiquitous, orant or enthroned effigies represent a rarity. This work aims to restore the original appearance of the famous images of Ferdinand III, Beatrice of Swabia and Alfonso X that once accompanied their tombs in the christianised mosque that was the 13th-century cathedral of Seville, as well as to seek the origin of this curious solution in the literary imagination of the Alphonsine court. Finally, this peculiar funerary complex will be interpreted in the context of the imperial pretensions of the Castilian monarchy.

This Final Degree Project focuses on the historical process that led to the creation of the Kingdom of Portugal, through a detailed review of the political, military, and ecclesiastical events that occurred between the late 11th and the first half of the 12th century. The study particularly examines the roles of key figures such as Henrique de Borgoña, Teresa de León, and Afonso Henriques, as well as the conflicts with the Kingdom of León and the internal tensions that shaped the evolution of the County of Portugal towards independence. The main objective of this research is to understand the factors that enabled the consolidation of autonomous power in Portugal, paying special attention to succession disputes, marriage alliances, and the influence of the Church. The methodology is based on critical analysis of documentary sources and up-to-date historiographical literature. The results reveal that the creation of the Kingdom of Portugal was the outcome of a complex and prolonged process marked by temporary alliances, family rivalries, and territorial disputes. The prominent figure of Teresa, who adopted the title of queen before the official proclamation of the kingdom, and the decisive role of Afonso Henriques, culminate in a process driven by both personal ambition and political strategy. This study highlights the importance of the County of Portugal as a distinct political entity and contributes to a better understanding of the origins of the Portuguese monarchy.

Summary
The study of ten cremations from the Iberian Necropolis of Alarcos III is presented. This necropolis was discovered in 2019 between the municipalities of Poblete and Ciudad Real, with excavations beginning in 2021. The aim is to deepen the knowledge of Iberian culture in the La Mancha area, mainly through the characterization of the funerary ritual performed in this territory at the end of the Iron Age. The work includes the excavation of part of the material in situ, the anthropological study, which involves classification into anatomical segments and estimation of sex and age of the individuals, and also the colorimetric analysis and four FTIR spectroscopic indices, with the purpose of studying the relationship between chromatic changes and the chemical structure of the bone, as well as inferring the temperature. The anthropological study has allowed the identification of the sex of 4 female and 2 male individuals, and the age of two of them (15-20 and 17 years old), the others being adults. The colorimetric and spectroscopic analyses show great variability and indicate that the bones with higher luminosity present a higher cremation temperature, with low amounts of collagen and carbonate, as well as a high crystallinity index. This means that high temperatures were reached, but calcination was partial, suggesting a less elaborate cremation than in later centuries.

This work pretends to approach us to the knowledge of the life of the people of the gone through the analysis of rests funerarios. They expose the results of the anthropological studio and the alterations paleopatológicas of the osseous rests and dentarios of two tombs of Modern Period of the yacimiento of Santa María of Ash of the River of the city council of Enmedio, in the Current Community of Cantabria (Spain). During the Archaeologic Campaign of 2023 excavated the sepulturas 7 and 8, object of this analysis. Like results obtained, stand out the presence of spine bífida in the two subjects analysed and that have interpreted like consequence of the possible endogamy by influence of geographic isolation of the region, the diet, the environmental half conditions and the estrucutras sociopolíticas of the historical period. Likewise, the existence of entesopatías have interpreted like bookmarks of labour activity and the only finding of a osteofito occipital in the foramen magnum of the subject of the sepultura 7 that explains the grave minusvalías of vital activity. With this work treats to contribute to put of importance the importance of the studios bioarqueológicos like source of knowledge of the life of the past that can spend unobserved in paleoepidermiological approaches.

The Argentine Communist Party (PCA) is considered one of the most relevant political groups with a broad historical projection within the realm of traditional Argentine leftism. From a diachronic perspective, it is notable how its position changed regarding previous dictatorial governments that emerged in the context of Argentina in the second half of the last century, particularly concerning the party’s support for the last Argentine civic-military dictatorship. Based on this premise, this paper will analyze this supportive stance towards the last civic-military dictatorship within the proposed spatial framework, focusing on the theoretical and contextual foundations that led the PCA to support the establishment of the military government. This work explores the central role of personal experience and biography in contemporary artistic creation, highlighting how subjectivity, memory, and identity become essential tools for expression and social critique. It is divided into two parts: a theoretical one, which explores the evolution of the biographical approach to art history, from the legend of artists as geniuses to contemporary identity politics; and a second analytical one, focused on the investigation of three exemplary artists: Louise Bourgeois, Félix González-Torres, and Carrie Mae Weems. The personal relationship with the political is explored in these cases, including trauma, death, grief, gender, racialization, and vulnerability as central axes of a discourse that connects the intimate with the political. It also explores how autobiographical art can be used to represent complex subjective experiences, serving as a space for self-knowledge, denunciation, and resistance. The research incorporates a critical assessment, aiming to focus on a more inclusive art history that brings together marginalized voices and challenges hegemonic cultural traditions of art.

Immigration to Galicia is progressively transforming the social fabric of Galician society, generating tensions, adaptations, and challenges in a region traditionally considered a source of emigrants. In recent years, Galicia has become a destination for a multitude of people arriving from different global contexts, including refugees, exiles, and people forcibly displaced by armed conflicts and humanitarian crises. In this context, regional and national policies, as well as political and media discourse, exert a significant influence on the social perception of immigration and the process of migrants' integration into local societies. This paper explores how immigrants and refugees arriving in Galicia, specifically refugees from Mali and the growing Venezuelan community, interact with the economic and social reality of the peninsular community, marked by a history of emigration. Specifically, the role of public policies in the adaptation process of immigrants in Galicia is analyzed by examining: implemented reception policies, administrative challenges such as visa management, unmet labor demand in rural areas (due to demographic decline and depopulation in certain areas), and new migratory trends among returnees/descendants of Galician emigrants (such as the Latino community). The paper also explores tensions between local institutions and the central government, which reflect discrepancies in transparency and management of reception for migrants and/or refugees. Stigmas, housing problems, and hate crimes will be addressed through the mention and analysis of current news stories and the provision of graphics that allow for a better visual understanding of the evolution of these phenomena. The hypothesis of this paper is that there are a series of obstacles in the adaptation process of both Malian refugees and Venezuelan migrants in Galicia, highlighting the differences and similarities that exist in such disparate migration cases. Finally, it reflects on the contradictions of the current (economic and social) system, where inequalities persist that affect the integration of migrants in the European region, specifically in the northwestern part of the Iberian Peninsula.

Stigmas, housing problems, and hate crimes will be addressed through the mention and analysis of current news stories and the provision of graphics that allow for a better visual understanding of the evolution of these phenomena. The hypothesis of this paper is that there are a series of obstacles in the adaptation process of both Malian refugees and Venezuelan migrants in Galicia, highlighting the differences and similarities that exist in such disparate migration cases. Finally, it reflects on the contradictions of the current (economic and social) system, where inequalities persist that affect the integration of migrants in the European region, specifically in the northwestern part of the Iberian Peninsula.

Summary
The different interpretations, both modern and ancient, that have been made throughout history about the last Lagid queen, Cleopatra VII, have led to the appearance of different versions of her in painting, literature and even in film, among many other fields. This work focuses precisely on the study of these different versions, with the intention of carrying out a confrontation between them and a critical review of them, together with the sources that have come down to us, as well as looking at the different changes to which she was subjected according to the context in which the interpretation was found.

This paper analyzes the iconographic evolution of the Pieta in Western art from the Middle Ages to the Baroque. Through the comparative study of key works, both sculptural and pictorial, it will examine how the representation of the Virgin with the dead body of Christ has changed in terms of the characterization and number of the characters that compose it, its composition, style and symbolism. This Final Degree Project focuses on the figure of Salome as one of the most prominent examples of the archetype of the femme fatale, both in art history and in the visual culture of the nineteenth century. Focusing on the biblical story and its artistic and literary reinterpretation, Salome becomes an emblem of the end of the century charged with eroticism and danger. This research studies how prominent artists such as Gustave Moreau or novelists such as Oscar Wilde helped construct a captivating woman. This structure responds to the social disputes of the time, related to the emancipation of women. Likewise, this study is supported by other figures related to the archetype of the femme fatale, which are Lilith, Pandora, Circe, Judith and Cleopatra. With the support of these figures, it is shown how this myth is reflected in independent and strong women throughout the centuries. Studies on the participation and involvement of women during the French Revolution have always been placed in the background, considered of little importance for the research around that period. However, today it is demonstrated that women played a fundamental role, not only in the main political and social processes of the Revolution, but also being the main ones negatively affected. This research aims to show, by analysing the works of Madame de Staël, an enlightened writer from the revolutionary era, and Jules Michelet, a French historian of the nineteenth century, the great importance and impact that women, both individually and as a group had throughout the beginning, development and conclusion of the French Revolution.

The urban late middle ages’ world had achieved a great economic, political and social development around the XV century, wich gave place to a great diversity of scales of power and instances inside the city administration. From this generality, Santiago de Compostela, as a archiepiscopal’s lordship nucleus, presents inside its power levels around the fourteen hundreds a considerable complexity and conflictivity between the capacities of the temporal power, the council and even de cathedral’s chapter, having figures of great diversity as protagonists. Therefore, the development of these groups based on their social condition, their economic bases and their political statements, will give place to an urban oligarchy of great complexity, interesting by its dominion, sovereignty and power enforcement. The present paper gathers all above as an object of analysis, aming to offer a specific perspective from the Libro do Concello (1416-1422), wich allows us to recognice the present individuals on this system, building a versatile account between the upgrading of the new urban oligarchy and the subordination of those to the great traditional power from this city, as the santiaguese clerical state was.

the following work seeks to demonstrate how the black court dress became the main attribute of the monarchs of the house of habsburg from the 16th century onwards, becoming a symbol, along with other elements such as the golilla, of spanish royalty and its power over a great empire. in this way the spanish kings, from philip ii to charles ii, had themselves depicted by the most relevant painters and artists of their time according to this model. however, the spanish black was gradually replaced by the so-called french-style dress in parallel with spain's loss of hegemony to louis xiv's france in europe. therefore, even before the arrival of the house of bourbon in 1700, this type of dress was also common at the spanish court at the end of the 17th century, especially visible in the portraits of the last spanish austria and the leading spanish aristocrats of the time.

Summary
The petroglyphs of the Deza region and the North of the Barbanza Peninsula constitute nuclei with their own entity within the group of Galician rock art due to their density and variety of represented motifs. These regions have the peculiarity of having engravings of weaponry in their catalog, an exceptionally unusual case in Deza, within the Galician community, far from the nucleus of greater thematic diversity. The chronological value of the metallic correlates of the engravings and the criteria for selecting weapons to represent lead us to pay attention to the development of the first metallurgy in the Northwest. The petroglyphs should not be considered in isolation, but evaluated as a whole within the surrounding environment, as suggested by Landscape Archaeology. In this sense, the studied petroglyphs tend to be represented in areas with good visibility, relevant transit locations, and near water resources. These, in turn, have their peculiarities in their respective areas, in terms of style and types of weaponry

The objective of this work will be to study the relations that had the Spanish Monarchy and the Safavid Persia thanks to the addition of the Crown of Portugal, both in the political, commercial and cultural fields, focusing on the reigns of Philip III and Philip IV until the loss of the kingdom of Portugal (1598-1640). To begin with this work, a bibliographical introduction will be made from the beginning of these investigations at the end of the last century to the present day, through researchers such as Luis Gil Fernández or Rudi Matthee, to continue later with an introduction dealing with the first contacts of the Hispanic kingdoms with Persia, such as the embassy of Ruy de Clavijo to Tamerlan or the Habsburg-Safávida with Carlos V. After these first notions on the subject we will continue with the central theme of the work starting from the various embassies sent by the respective kings to Shah Abbas; We will also see the key role of Persia as an economic zone that made it easier to unite India with Ormuz, a key Portuguese factory during these times, and finally the image of Persia that was in the imagination through various literary works.

The countly nobility founded and owned the so-called ‘family monasteries’ between the 10th and 11th centuries. This period encompasses their birth, heyday, and decline. Although they have been the subject of historiographical study for decades, the most recent analyses have renewed their interpretation. This work aims to approach their study from a variety of perspectives, considering multiple factors such as their political, economic, religious, symbolic, and material dimensions. Likewise, we will address the evolution of the countly nobility, which will allow us to contextualize the very existence and function of the monasteries. To do this, we will examine the configuration of noble kinship structures and their relationship with the inheritance system, evaluate the role played by the monasteries as a mechanism for concentrating patrimony, and reflect on their role based on the concept of the ‘estructuración social del territorio’. Finally, we will consider their nature as an element legitimizing the sociopolitical position of their owners. We will therefore attempt to provide a holistic view of this phenomenon.

Summary
This work focuses on making an estimate of the environmental reception capacity of the Barbanza region, identifying how much impact the studied territory can withstand before it exceeds a critical point. The main objective of this study would be the identification of the capacity that the analyzed territory has to be able to support human activities, industrial activities or human dynamics such as urban expansion and human activities that generate the exploitation of natural resources; with this objective we seek to promote the sustainable use of the territory and the realization of a study applicable both for the present and for the future. When developing the work and trying to achieve the established objective, a type of mixed methodology is developed, which combines the analysis of several text documents with the integration of technological tools such as geographic information systems (GIS) and data analysis on climate, biodiversity or water resources, using some key indicators such as water consumption, land use or carbon emissions. From this methodological procedure a result is obtained, which is based on human activities and does not compromise its natural resources and biodiversity, showing what would be the environmental reception capacity of the Barbanza region, which in this case the result shows that it has not yet been overcome, which allows us to affirm that for this region the ecological knowledge of its territory avoids negative environmental consequences, being a very important point for both its economic and social or environmental development.

The main objective of this study would be the identification of the capacity that the analyzed territory has to be able to support human activities, industrial activities or human dynamics such as urban expansion and human activities that generate the exploitation of natural resources; with this objective we seek to promote the sustainable use of the territory and the realization of a study applicable both for the present and for the future. When developing the work and trying to achieve the established objective, a type of mixed methodology is developed, which combines the analysis of several text documents with the integration of technological tools such as geographic information systems (GIS) and data analysis on climate, biodiversity or water resources, using some key indicators such as water consumption, land use or carbon emissions. From this methodological procedure a result is obtained, which is based on human activities and does not compromise its natural resources and biodiversity, showing what would be the environmental reception capacity of the Barbanza region, which in this case the result shows that it has not yet been overcome, which allows us to affirm that for this region the ecological knowledge of its territory avoids negative environmental consequences, being a very important point for both its economic and social or environmental development.

Analysis of film production during the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939), placing a specific emphasis in the use of cinema as a propaganda tool. The present study will analyse the films of the Republican side, the Nationalist side and most of the foreign aid both sides received in the field of filmmaking. Furthermore, each section will go in detail over each side’s own production. Additionally, this thesis seeks to understand the importance cinema, a nascent art form in Spain, had as an alienating element and as a tool for propaganda during the course of the war.

The situation of women in the 19th century was strongly influenced by the values of the time. Thus, they were relegated to the care of the home, lacked legal rights, and were marginalized from public life and education. The great majority were illiterate and only a few were able to be educated, mostly belonging to the upper classes, although the education they received was basic and focused on domestic work. In this context, two thinkers were born, Concepción Arenal first, and Emilia Pardo Bazán in a later generation. Both challenged structural inequality and the roles of their time by educating themselves, intervening in traditionally male spaces, and denouncing the condition of women in society. Although they did not achieve a break from the patriarchal system, their various contributions and actions were fundamental to the origin of Spanish feminism that would emerge in the following century.

Magic in Ancient Egypt, known as Heka, was considered the “power of powers”: a creative, divine, and omnipresent force that shaped human life and thought. Its application could affect both the earthly and spiritual realms. Although the concept may appear complex to the rational Western mind, it is essential for understanding the worldview, culture, arte and the life of the ancient inhabitants of the Nile. From the wide range of possibilities offered by the study of magic, this research highlights several key areas: the deities associated with magic, most notably the sorceress Isis and the patron god Thoth, and the presence of renowned figures such as Imhotep; ritual practises and magical texts, which, through the reading and recitation of hieroglyphic script, were believed to guide and empower one through the journey to the Afterlife; and visual representations, engraved, painted, or carved, particularly focusing on amulets as protective instruments activated through the utterance of magical formulas. The expanding body of literature demonstrates that magic remains a topic of enduring scholarly interest. Its study enables a deeper understanding of the worldview that, for millennia, served as the raison d’être of one of the world’s earliest civilizations, one that has profoundly influenced those that followed.

This thesis analyses the PR-G 173 hiking route, which follows the fluvial corridor of the Umia River and has significant potential to be functionally integrated into the regional green infrastructure. Using a landscape-based methodological approach, the study identifies the main ecological and anthropic pressures affecting the corridor. The territorial diagnosis highlights both strengths (accessibility, biodiversity, scenic value) and weaknesses (administrative fragmentation, infrastructure deterioration, invasive species). Based on these results, strategic proposals are structured around three main pillars: supramunicipal planning, ecological restoration, and public use management with social involvement. The ultimate goal is to strengthen the corridor’s resilience and enhance its contribution to local well-being through the conservation and appreciation of the landscape.

In view of the growing concern about population ageing in today’s Western societies, many sciences, history included, have become aware of the importance of understanding this process. Therefore, this essay will address, through an analysis of the Catastro de Ensenada (1752-1753) and other modern censuses such as the Censo de Floridablanca (1787), the study of the population over 60 years of age in four parishes of the former Jurisdiction of Baños: San Cristovo de Couso, Santa María de Moimenta, Santiago de Morillas and San Isidro de Montes (currently part of the municipality of Campo Lameiro). Based on a sample of 501 domestic groups, it was possible to identify, using both the aggregation method and the Cambridge Group for the History of Population and Social Structure’s household classification system, those domestic units under the leadership of sexagenarian and older individuals. This approach also enabled the identification of other statistical variables such as the size, structure and composition of their households, as well as the assistance mechanisms rooted in family solidarity and the subsistence strategies employed.

Under the idea of perpetuating a royal lineage, medieval kingdoms pay special attention to descendants, and the Crown of Castile is no different. Given this, the present work aims to analyze Castilian courtly childhood in the 15th century, starting from three specific moments that mark its existence: birth, upbringing and death. By resorting to diverse sources, both primary, bibliographic and elaborated from various disciplines, we want to achieve a transversal knowledge of the way in which life of infants develops in the courts of Trastámara dynasty, in order to know and deepen, ultimately, the practical exercise and symbolic conditions of power of the Trastámara dynasty from the perspective of infants.

This Final Degree Project explores Roman mining at Las Médulas in El Bierzo, with a particular focus on the engineering techniques used by the Romans for gold mining. Las Médulas, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, represent one of the most impressive examples of Roman hydraulic engineering. Through an exhaustive review of bibliographical sources and web resources, it analyses how the Romans built an extensive network of water channels, which reached more than 600 km in length. These works allowed the application of the ruina montium method, an innovative technique that transformed the landscape and facilitated the extraction of gold. The results of this study highlight the historical and technical importance of Las Médulas, as well as its impact on water management and the development of mining in the region.

In this study, we will explain how the evolution took place from an initial situation of uncoordinated efforts and improvisation within the intelligence services to their unification under Franco's command. To do this, we will analyse the prevailing ideas about intelligence services in the years leading up to the coup and during the Second Republic. Then, we will examine the reasons behind the absence of intelligence in the coup itself. Next, we will focus on the operation and evolution of the two main intelligence services during the early years of the Civil War: SIM and SIFNE. Due to the importance of their role in the war and in the consolidation of power, Franco centralized these services through Ungría by creating the SIPM. This new body would prove fundamental in winning the war and in obtaining key information for repressive measures and social control.

The aim of this paper is to provide an approach to the birth of the Suavian kingdom and its development from the beginning until the middle of the 5th century AD. The work focuses on the importance of the different kings, and how, depending on the way the monarchs ruled, the Suavian kingdom moved in a direction more focused on the consolidation of the kingdom or more on the expansion of the territory. The work was done following the chronological line marked by Hydatius in his chronicle, which is the key source for the work. Due to the limited space of the work, it will focus mainly on questions of foreign policy and consolidation of the kingdom. As will be seen throughout the exhibition, the Suevi people were notoriously complex and often went through complicated situations in which they fought for their survival, managing to overcome them and continue to develop until reaching a notorious importance, especially taking into account the context in which it occurred. All this journey of more than fifty years where conflicts and instability were constant will eventually wear down the cohesion of the kingdom, which will eventually lead the Suavian people to a second plan and to become a vassal kingdom of the Visigoths, people who will be the one who will manage to embrace the structures and power left empty by the Roman Empire in the Iberian Peninsula.

The following final degree project analyzes the Bosnian War, which took place between 1992 and 1995 and is framed within what is known as the Balkan Wars or the Yugoslav Wars. It aims at focusing on the responsibilities involved, the concepts of ethnic cleansing and genocide, the role of international organizations, and the construction of collective memory. The conflict arose as a result of the wars in Slovenia and Croatia, which sought independence from the Yugoslav state. These served as a model for Bosnia to follow in pursuing its own separatist aspirations.The three-year-long conflict was marked by violence and repression against the Boskniaks, the Bosnian Muslim population, at the hands of the Bosnian Serb armies. This project reflects on the degree of responsibility held by key political and military leaders, as well as the international community, UN peacekeepers, and society at large. It also explores the different narratives surrounding the memory of the conflict, highlighting the existence of varying perspectives that hinder reconciliation and the recognition of victims posing a challenge in terms of historical memory and coexistence.

Summary
In this study, we approach the simple epistles of Ovid’s Heroides, a collection of poems in which the elegiac and epistolary genres intersect. Their protagonists, women taken from the mythical tale, write to their lovers who have left them. Our goal is to conduct a historiographical review of the most important studies on the collection, starting with Howard Jacobson's work, which remains the starting point for researchers. Moreover, we will acknowledge the most up-to-date trends, such as Gender Studies and psychological analysis. Our final section will examine the plausibility of some of the most optimistic interpretations, arguing that the Heroides, despite being a woman's account, only reinforce gender conventions.

Their protagonists, women taken from the mythical tale, write to their lovers who have left them. Our goal is to conduct a historiographical review of the most important studies on the collection, starting with Howard Jacobson's work, which remains the starting point for researchers. Moreover, we will acknowledge the most up-to-date trends, such as Gender Studies and psychological analysis. Our final section will examine the plausibility of some of the most optimistic interpretations, arguing that the Heroides, despite being a woman's account, only reinforce gender conventions.

Summary
Birth and death are two fundamental events in the existence of every living organism, marking the period of time in which its activity unfolds. Despite this, our knowledge is incomplete, and it is when we experience the loss of a loved one that this becomes evident. In order to explain how all these emotions impact artistic practices, the different ways of living and being aware of death, and of showing the transformation of the anguish of the death of the other, but also of one’s own death as a universal emotion, this work investigates, through the methodology of psychiatrist and writer Elisabeth Kübler-Ross, the reflection of the different stages of grief in contemporary audiovisual media.

This work analyzes the evolution of weapons and armor during the Middle Ages, focusing on the period from the 13th to the 15th century. For this analysis, four Galician tombs of different chronologies have been selected, reflecting the transformations in defensive and offensive weaponry. This research work is oriented to the study and analysis of the work of a historical photographer, Juan Malvárez Dubert, whose legacy graphically documents a stage of the recent past of Muros, his hometown. This stage covers a period of approximately fifty years, from 1920, when he opened his first studio, until 1969, when he died. The technical quality and the aesthetic and documentary value of the photographs, together with their importance as a tool for recovering the past of this town, justify the choice of a subject that has hardly been treated by historiography. The contents are structured in a succession of sections that start by dealing with more general aspects related to the origin of photography in Galicia and the context of the time, to later deal with what directly concerns Malvárez's work, trying to unravel the peculiarities and characteristics of his graphic work in relation to the daily and patrimonial dynamics of Muros during these years. The research ends with the conclusions, which emphasize the importance of his work as a fundamental piece to recover the memory of Muros and the people of Muros. The work is completed with a catalog of images, where some of the most significant photographs of Juan Malvárez are collected.

The main objective of this undergraduate thesis is to analyze to what extent Celtiberian culture, based exclusively on the archaeological record, can be considered a warrior society. Classical Greco Roman written sources are deliberately excluded due to their bias and limited direct relevance to this analysis. The study is based on the chronological and geographical criteria proposed by researchers such as Alberto J. Through a critical review of the literature, case studies, and a conceptual framework based on authors such as Heinich, Whitaker, and Swan, it examines how this technology redefines not only the operational mechanisms of the art market but also its structures of legitimacy. The study identifies the main advantages of blockchain -immutability, transparency, and decentralization- while acknowledging its limitations: reliance on reliable initial data, legal challenges, and institutional resistance. The case studies (Verisart, Artory, Arsnl, Async Art, and SuperRare) present concrete implementations that illustrate both the potential and the frictions of the model. The conclusion is that blockchain does not replace expert judgment or eliminate traditional frameworks, but rather reconfigures them within a more distributed and verifiable logic. Far from being a passing trend, blockchain represents an emerging infrastructure that compels us to rethink the relationships between art, value, ownership, and trust.

The regime change and the repression carried out by the rebels from 1936 onward are major issues, which draw our attention due to their significance in our history. During the dictatorship these issues were silenced, so nowadays the facts are trying to be recovered as accurately as posible, no longer influenced by the regime’s propaganda. Based on this premise, in this essay, we will focus on the city of Lugo. We are going to start by taking a close look on how the city was configured prior to the military coup, how the change of power was carried out, and who did it. In addition, we are going to provide an overview of how the new power was established based on the systematic repression of all opponents or dissidents, analyzing the number of fatalities, those imprisoned, those reprimanded… by taking into account diverse bibliographic sources, both monographic works and more specialized articles. The ultimate goal is to examine the different realities of the city of Lugo in democracy and how it had to face the various events that led to the dictatorship.

The Church of San Juan de Portomarín is an example of Full Romanesque architecture in Galicia with unique characteristics, particularly its fortress-like appearance. Its original location was in the old town of Portomarín, near the bridge that allowed passage over the Miño River, along the route of the Camino de Santiago. Its construction is closely linked to the passage of pilgrims, with everything that entails as a religious manifestation and a means of communication with the rest of Western Europe. Its structure and decoration display the essential characteristics of Romanesque art. Additionally, they serve as evidence of the influence of the Cathedral of Santiago in the construction of churches along the pilgrimage route. One can also appreciate the distinct personality of the artisans who built it, as they not only reflected an iconography similar to other Romanesque temples but also imposed a distinctive seal on its design. Moreover, its relocation due to the construction of the Belesar reservoir is an example of the challenges faced in preserving cultural heritage in the face of the demands of progress and the conflict of interests that this entails.

Summary
Devotion to the Virgin Mary is intrinsically linked to the Camino de Santiago, where she is considered a guide and protector of pilgrims. Mary is represented as the renewed Eve, the virginal mother who intercedes for the faithful. In the Compostela of the late medieval period, the Marian presence is evident through the introduction of her iconography in the numerous temples. From churches and chapels inside the walls, highlighting the apostolic cathedral, as outside the walls, in the mendicant convents. Among the iconographies in which Mary plays a leading role, the Epiphany stands out in the first place: one of the first themes developed in Christian art with the message of the fulfilment of God's promise, the salvation of all peoples through the sending of his son. These images respond to archetypes produced by a workshop from Orense, reminiscent of the Matthean tradition. The image of the Annunciation also stands out as a synthesis of the Virgin's obedience to the divine will. Finally, attention is paid to the representations of Mary, as the Virgin of the O, in an advanced state of gestation, an iconographic type that acquired particular development in the Gothic period through the workshops of Conimbricense. Finally, there are the sculptures of the Virgin identified as the mother church.

Cinema is a visual and discursive medium that can function as an ideological and philosophical tool to understand contemporary thought and develop social and political readings. In this sense, the real can be represented through symbolism through complex meanings that lead us to actively participate in its construction, articulating ideological dialogues around concepts such as power, justice and control. This work, therefore, proposes to use a methodology that combines cinematographic analysis, iconography and critical theory to study the different visual and narrative elements that filmmaker Christopher Nolan uses to construct the discourse in his films. The two case studies on which this work will focus, The Dark Knight Trilogy and Tenet, present elements such as moral ambiguity in the representation of the characters, the use of time as a narrative structure and the creation of symbols that give rise to political or critical interpretations that will now be analyzed and commented on in detail.

Summary
Housing was and is an important point of discussion in many disciplines. Both globally and in the case study, Galicia. Although it is recognised in the Spanish Constitution as a right, access to it has decreased in the last decade. This is due to an increase in demand and a rigidity in supply. In this context, the increase in housing for tourist use and second homes contribute to the rigidity of supply. In addition, there are other factors associated with these types of housing that can generate a series of impacts on local communities that go beyond variations in the price of residential property. In this way, the Sporadic Use Housing Rate is developed in order to determine which are the places with the highest pressure of these types of housing. To complement the rate, it is related to different demographic variables and the most significant ones are determined. The results show the clear concentration of this rate in inland municipalities, as well as its clear relationship with the dynamics of population ageing.

In addition, there are other factors associated with these types of housing that can generate a series of impacts on local communities that go beyond variations in the price of residential property. In this way, the Sporadic Use Housing Rate is developed in order to determine which are the places with the highest pressure of these types of housing. To complement the rate, it is related to different demographic variables and the most significant ones are determined. The results show the clear concentration of this rate in inland municipalities, as well as its clear relationship with the dynamics of population ageing.

Among the different social movements of the time, the neighbourhood movement occupies a prominent place in recent research due to its fundamental contribution to the transformation of local life, both at the political and urban level. However, Galicia continues to be a little explored territory in this field. This paper seeks to contribute to this knowledge by means of a case study of one of its most dynamic and vindictive cities: A Coruña. Based on an analysis of the press releases published in La Voz de Galicia, an analysis of the determining factors that led to the birth of the citizens' movement and its subsequent development will be carried out. At the same time, the support of the documentation helps us to glimpse the evolution of its protests, in two clearly differentiated periods: Francoism and the Transition. This allows us to follow the general trajectory of the neighbourhood movement and understand its role in the configuration of the urban space of A Coruña, as well as in the articulation of its social and political fabric.

The Russian Federation often claims that western countries are violating its security through the expansion of their influence and allowing attacks on Russia communities living in the former USSR territory. Using this justification, Russia frequently carries out campaigns in certain countries, which often involve violations of international laws or traties. The hypothesis of this work is that the Russian Federation engages in such campaigns because it cannot compete with other world power and is experiencing a crisis that could lead to a loss of its status as a global power. To addres this, several aspects will be analyzed, including political, social economic and military dimensións. For the methodology new articles data from organizations,and historical maps were used to support the hyporhesis.

Between 1969 and 1974, Vito Acconci developed a series of performance that turned his body into a site of conflict, exposure, and dissolution. His trajectory began with conceptual poetry and textual practices, gradually evolving into a performative approach focused on physical experience, self-representation, and spatial dynamics. Considered one of the pioneers of body art, his work emerged in a context of social unrest and institutional critique, where the body acquired a political and symbolic dimension. In his actions, Acconci incorporated media such as photography, video, and language to activate strategies like surveillance, narcissism, self-aggression, and provocation. These operations do not seek to affirm a stable identity, but rather to destabilize it, exploring its gradual disappearance within the performative act. In this process, he also questions the figure of the modern male subject, engaging directly with the rise of feminist practices and theories. The viewer’s gaze is constantly challenged, drawn into a game of presences and absences where the body is no longer a guarantee of identity, but becomes an ambiguous site of symbolic negotiation, vulnerability, and resistance.

The study of stress and its indicators is booming in the field of osteoarchaeology. Since its introduction in the middle of the last century, the concept has evolved, determining simultaneously the way bioarchaeology and paleopathology understand the disease. Assuming the existence of a multiplicity of stresses studied, we examine the clinical adaptation of the concept, focusing on its effectiveness as a theoretical approach in the archaeological discipline. Using the historical method, the effectiveness of stress is discarded due to the demonstrated misunderstanding and conceptual confusion regarding the notions of stress and stressor in relation to the osteoarchaeological record. This confirmation establishes the need for a new concept and a starting point for future work on the topic, as well as a shift from the past notion of disease. Furthermore, a pilot test is being done using radioimmunoassay to detect cortisol concentrations in archaeological tooth tissue with and without enamel hypoplasia. The results are inconclusive, which propose questions about the technique used and the need of more studies and research to develop the potential of working with glucocorticoids in the archaeological record. More work is needed from a multidisciplinary perspective to understand the implications of stress in history and in desease.

Graphic arts were for the anti-Franco and galeguista movement inside of Galicia during the “desarrollismo” (1959-1975) an ideal mechanism for the building and promotion of their resistance in the cultural, sindical and political ambit. The engraving, the poster and the editorial graphic design were used to advertise and approach of the cultural and political initiatives to the public (poster, editorial graphic design); to convey their most critical messages (poster and engravings); and to reassume the galician cultural project, cut short by the civil war and the dictatorship (poster, engraving and editorial graphic design). The artists that decided making pieces for resistance organizations or keeping a critical discourse on their graphic production, were personally committed to the cause by being able to accept the personal risks that were along with the artistic activity. Most of the artists were an active part of the social and political movements of the anti-Franco, being also connected with other intellectuals, politicians and artists that shared the same cause. This political and social compromise isn’t only reflected in the content of their works, but also in their form, in the artistic proposals which try to update the galician arts while creating stylistic connections with artists from the galician tradition, popular art or critical and revolutionary art.

Written culture in the monastery of San Martiño de Xuvia has never been object of a comprehensive analysis from the perspective of the so-called Auxiliary Sciences of History. This study aims to review the existing works on the subject and to focus on those aspects that, until now, have remained unexplored. Writing and written objects require a multifaceted approach in order to understand its multiple dimensions: ideological, material and cultural. In light of its complex condition, we will analyse both the script and the written artefacts produced in this institution before mid-thirteenth century through the perspective of codicology, diplomatics and palaeography. The goal of this work is to achieve a complete understanding of the corpus under study, situating it within its historical context and re-evaluating it not only as a source for historical investigation, but also as an object of study in its own right.

The video emerged in the 1960s of the 20th century, amid a conflictive context of political change, social struggle, and rejection of the strict values of traditional art and society. It is thanks to this, to technological advances and the birth of artistic movements (that are based on the multiplicity of supports and an art of action), that video is institutionalized in the artistic sphere. In its evolution, we see how it changes from a recording tool. The 1980s will witness the true explosion regarding videographic production, and from the 1990s onward, it becomes an artistic practice that comes to be known as video creation. Bill Viola and his production from the 1980s are going to become one of the main references in video art, in that exploration of the image where going beyond the gaze through his camera, with which he captures what the human eye doesn’t see and allows us to connect with the intimate world of the viewer and the artist.

Artemisia Gentileschi is undoubtedly one of the leading figures of Baroque painting. Despite having spent several centuries buried in the history of art, her work is now beginning to be given the value it deserves. This is an appreciation of the painter's artistic ability, moving away from the different connotations attributed to her history and work based on the different periods she spent as an artist. Her cunning, talent, and ability to adapt to different environments allowed Artemisia Gentileschi to carve out a small space in the pages of history, but not before fighting the pretensions of the time.

The concept of death around the Middle Ages has been a widely studied topic. In the late medieval centuries, illness and agony aroused the terror of the unknown after death. This context promoted the dissemination of the Ars Moriendi, Christian texts, with a didactic orientation, whose objective was to help the faithful in the transition of death. These works were illustrated with the temptations to be overcome by the dying, as well as the means to redeem sin and achieve salvation. These books spread throughout Europe. Among the preserved specimens, the Ars Moriendi from the Zaragoza workshop of Juan de Hurus stands out, which is analyzed in this work.

This work aims to increase knowledge about the site of O Corro dos Mouros (Adai, Lugo) by means of a soil study, with the objective of addressing key geoarchaeological questions. Through the detailed analysis of the soil, we seek to understand the state of the terrain before the construction of the structure, as well as to identify the different phases of use and occupation over time. O Corro dos Mouros, belonging to the typology of settlements known as roda, falls chronologically between the Late Bronze Age and the Iron Age I, a period scarcely represented in the Galician archaeological record. The study is based on a systematic soil sampling carried out in the 2023 archaeological campaign, which includes analysis of granulometry, colour and pH. These data allow the interpretation of both natural and anthropic soil modification processes, providing information on land preparation, human activities and possible moments of abandonment. The integration of soil science in the archaeological study of the site allows us to advance in the functional and chronological interpretation of the site, thus contributing to a better understanding of the social and environmental dynamics of recent prehistory in the northwest of the Iberian Peninsula.

The integration of soil science in the archaeological study of the site allows us to advance in the functional and chronological interpretation of the site, thus contributing to a better understanding of the social and environmental dynamics of recent prehistory in the northwest of the Iberian Peninsula.

Summary
Throughout this dissertation we seek to briefly review some of the most significant Viking attacks in medieval Galicia (9th-13th centuries), as well as, to a lesser extent, their direct political and social consequences in the region. To this end, and taking into account the difficulties that exist when working on this subject due both to the lack of documentary and archaeological evidence on the subject and to the existence of widely disseminated works that cover it in a superficial, subjective or inaccurate manner, we will present a relatively exhaustive review not only of the origins, motivations and objectives of the Vikings, but also of their passage through Galicia and some of the myths that revolve around them.

This TFG analyzes the Late Gothic period in the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela, focusing ont he architectural and artistic transformations that occurred both within the cathedral and in its cloister. It examines how, from the end of the Middle Ages to the early Renaissance, spaces originally designed in the Romanesque style were modified or added to in order to meet new liturgical, aesthetic and functional needs. The study covers the failed project for a Gothic apse, several Late Gothic chapels (such as Mondragón and Prima), the ciborium, the baldachin commissioned by Archbishop Alonso I de Fonseca, the Sancti Spiritus chapel and the significant cloister designed by Juan de Álava and its associated spaces. They, the silenced protagonists of a history that ignored and undervalued them, participated in a rural economy in which they worked in different ways. The main activities carried out were those of an agricultural nature, as farms were the basic cells of any peasant economy (along with maritime tasks, depending on the area). But these were not the only possibilities available to them, as they had options ranging from trading in real estate to being housewives.

To this end, we will explain the numerous interpretative discourses that characterize functional diversity, as well as the forms of coexistence and social perception, completing the traditional perspective focused only on marginalization and stigmatization. In addition, for a better understanding of the explanations presented, we will address the historiographical current of Disability Studies and its presence in medievalism. In this way, we will focus on intellectual disability, sensory disability, and physical disability.

The legitimization of the Trastamara dynasty, specifically its first monarchs, is provided through the chronicles written by Pedro López de Ayala, in which he constructs a political ideology seeking to legitimize this new monarchy after the conflict with Pedro I and his death. Among these elements that the chronicler uses to consolidate these monarchs, we find different propaganda arguments, one of them being the emergence of ceremonies with which to express this new power established in the figure of the king. Similarly, we will follow these ceremonial acts developed by the first Trastamara, Enrique II and Juan I, who, during their respective reigns, laid the foundations for consolidating this dynasty until the end of the Middle Ages.

Infidelity became the norm, particularly among the upper echelons of nobility and, more specifically, within the royal circle. However, these temporary relationships were not solely driven by emotional motivations; political and economic interest also played a fundamental role in the arrangement of these unions. In this sense, we aim to analyze the figure of the royal lover as an active agent within her sociopolitical context, as well as a bearer of multidimensional power, fundamentally based on her ability to intercede before the monarch and supported by her kinship networks and assets.

From the late medieval period onward, we can trace the evolving role of women, who had always held a pivotal position within family groups, as they began to take on greater public roles alongside their exercise of patronage. By commissioning a wide array of cultural actions, particularly in the real of library patronage, these women managed to not only legitimized but also perpetuated both their family legacy and their own identities. Through the observation and analysis of these texts, we identify key elements that we argue constitute a feminine book culture. Thanks to the iconographic and thematic analysis of these manuscripts, along with the literary exchanges and circulation of texts that these women promoted, provides insight into this feminine culture that defines them and reinforces the social order in which lived. Furthermore, it helps us comprehend the networks of sisterhood surrounding the books they commissioned and the significance that they held within medieval society.

This work is close to the way in which the literary account of the Metamorphoses by the poet Publio Ovidio Nason is represented in the pictorial work of Tiziano, especially in his mythological series made for Philip II between 1553 and 1562, the Poesie. A brief contextual introduction to the life and work of the two protagonists authors of this work, followed by an artistic and iconographic commentary on the series' paintings, establishing links with the descriptive character of the Ovidian text. The Poesie are one of the wider pictorial sets, which cover mythological themes, of the Renaissance, created entirely by a single artist and under the patronage of a single person. The research highlights how Titian was based on previous iconographic traditions, since the Metamorphoses have been a typically illustrated text, so that the painter already started from some concepts and features present in engravings, although incorporating innovations to the theme. These works not only consolidate the mature style of the artist, but by their pictorial mastery, they also served as inspiration for later artists, becoming these canvases in great references of art history, not only in the representation of mythological themes.

Thanks to the connection between literature and art, the Pre-Raphaelites developed their own way of thinking and aesthetics, based on a return to an idealized Middle Ages, marked by exuberant nature, love, tragedy, and feminine beauty. The object of study in this paper selects the group's favorite literature (highlighting the figures of Shakespeare, Dante, and Keats) with the works of the movement's artists. The Pre-Raphaelite paintings will be analyzed based on the text that inspired them, thus establishing a clear link between art and literature.

The Museum of Pontevedra is a benchmark in the conservation and enhancement of Galician cultural heritage, not only for its collections, but also for the heritage significance of its buildings, both historic and newly constructed from the Contemporary Period. Housing a total of seven buildings, the historic ones, such as the Castro Monteagudo or the remains of the Convent of Santo Domingo, are examples of the conservation and rehabilitation of the architectural heritage; while those built ex novo, such as the Castelao or the Fernández López, represent the capacity for integration between modernity and cultural heritage. Each of them has been the object of careful restoration and adaptation projects to fulfil museum functions without losing their original identity, seeking to balance the conservation of the architectural heritage with contemporary accessibility and functionality, all under criteria of minimum intervention and respect for the authenticity of each of the buildings. But these spaces not only preserve art and historical objects, but also become an active part of the museological discourse, teaching the visitor about the architectural and cultural evolution of the region. With these efforts, the Museum of Pontevedra not only preserves its valuable content, but also the continent that houses it.

Summary
Since the discovery of the tomb of the Apostle Santiago during the reign of king Alfonso II, the interest in Santiago’s way has been a constant throughout the Middle Ages, with these pilgrimages continuing up to the present day. The objective of this work is to highlight sources other than the canonical ones in order to gain a more direct understanding of the reality experienced by pilgrims on their journeys. This will be done trough the use of Jacobean pilgrimage literature (odeporic literature) and the various pilgrim guides created to assist with these pilgrimages. The aim of this work is to investigate the motivations, impressions, and personal experiences of pilgrims, as well as the importance of the pilgrims themselves, with a brief digression regarding the specific case of female pilgrimages. This work will also address the socioeconomic impact of these pilgrimages.

Summary
Since their creation in the 1960s, video games have gradually dominated the cultural sphere, replacing the film industry as the new artistic medium. As for the 1990s, they have started to settle down thanks to various technical improvements and a growing interest in more realistic and intuitive aspects that persist to this day, a time of great openness and diversity in creative teams. In addition to video games as a general term, the Warcraft saga, which started in 1994, will be our object of analysis. In any case, we will delve on the urbanistic and architectural ideas as long as we attend to the concepts of landscape and the decorative arts, which we will relate to through worldbuilding and the importance of the cultural role basing this solely in World of Warcraft, a subscription base game in active since 2004 (although we sometimes rely on other official resources). With this in mind, we will detail the numerous influences that fantasy games (or high fantasy) borrows to develop their world and narrative, a fundamental aspect on which the rest depends, along with gameplay. Finally, we will address transmedial and intermedial aspects and conclude with the importance of video games (at an artistic level) as a resource and as a final product, in addition to their ability to connect the general public with art history.

Summary
The objetive of this essay is to analyze the medieval voyage of Saint Amaro in its manuscript story, its diffusion and its analysis. With this objective, we will cataloge Saint Amaro in relation to medieval travel books and then place it in its historical and historiographical contexto. From there, we will explore the archaeology of the text in relation to its manuscripts, editions, and sources. This dissertation offers an overview of various forms of devotional practices that find their highest expression during the Late Middle Ages, focusing on two cases: first, the interaction between the devotee and material elements, such as images and sacred objects, that functioned as focal and mediating devices in the individual's pursuit of a connection with the divine; and second, actions wherein the body itself was employed as a devotional instrument through extreme acts that enabled the experience of physical or mental suffering. To examine these phenomena, the study firstly investigates the primary movements of spiritual and devotional renewal of the period, including the Mendicant Orders and the development of the Devotio Moderna, and their influence on the visual representation of themes such as the Passion of Christ and the Compassio Mariae. The study also addresses key aspects of medieval religious experience, such as the essential role of the senses in spirituality and devotion, as well as the creation of new material devices designed to facilitate prayer and meditation. The study concludes that late medieval devotion was a profoundly embodied and emotional experience, in which the boundaries between the physical and the spiritual were continually blurred.

Summary
This article presents a summary of the lithic material documented during the 2024 excavation campaign at O Corro dos Mouros (Adai, Lugo). This place corresponds to the 'roda' type sites, a concept that raises some challenges regarding its functionality and interpretation, but which appears to correspond to sites linked to the funerary and ritual world. Using new perspectives on the subject, a comprehensive analysis of the lithic industry is developed, with particular emphasis on grinding tools. In addition, other significant elements, such as discs and rodelas, are also documented, along with evidence of construction materials. This brief work is part of the current studies on lithics in Recent Prehistory in Galicia, and therefore includes a summary as an introduction to the most recent state of research. A detailed description of the objects constitutes the central core of the work, revealing morphological and functional issues through the analysis of their contexts of discovery, raw materials, form, and traces of use. In conclusion, the objective is to underline the importance of studying polished stone material, seeking to achieve a better understanding of the funerary and ceremonial world of the Late Bronze Age and early Iron Age.

The Catholic Reformation was a complex process, whose implementation was marked by tensions, negotiations, and resistance. This paper examines its repercussions on Spanish society in the 16th and 17th centuries through the theoretical framework of confessionalization, analyzing to what extent it was effective. To that end, it considers the objectives and interests of the main actors who promoted its implementation, as well as the way in which it was articulated through a series of mechanisms, among which pastoral visits and the Inquisition stand out. The core of the analysis focuses on the impact of the Counter-Reformation on popular religiosity and morality. This is studied through one paradigmatic element for each area: confraternities and sexuality.

The study of old age has raised little interest in historiography until the late twentieth century due to its perception as an eminently contemporary phenomenon, thus understanding that elders were few in number in premodern societies and played no relevant functions. In contrast, this study aims to challenge that notion by analysing the consideration and social role of these individuals during the High and Late Middle Ages (XI to XV centuries). To do so, we will use a quantitative and demographic approach to explore issues such as longevity and the possibility of reaching and advanced age during this period; as well as addressing the prevailing theoretical model of old age in this era (stressing on the intellectual vision expressed through the “ages of life” archetypes, the transformations during the last stages of Medieval times and the peculiarities of the feminine case). Moreover, we will focus on the roles of the elderly, tracing their presence across the social orders and examining how the two main attributes associated to them (experience and vulnerability) were translated into specific practices: respectively, recognition as cultural authorities in different fields and institutional protection.

This paper analyzes the work of painter Giovanni Paolo Panini as a visual source for understanding Baroque Rome in the eighteenth century. Through the study of vedute, it examines how the artist combines architectural precision with theatrical and symbolic staging. The research delves into the urban, artistic, and religious context of the period, addressing themes such as papal power, monumentality, perspective, and Grand Tour collecting. Using an iconographic and formal approach, the city is interpreted as a grand Baroque theatre in which the everyday and the liturgical converge in an idealized vision. Overall, the artist is presented as a topographical chronicler and as a visual architect of a sacralized, monumental, and scenographic Rome.

The objective of this Bachelor's Thesis has been to conduct a thorough analysis of the iconography of the apocryphal scene of Christ descending into hell, exploring its different types and variants throughout the history of art. A survey of textual and visual sources has been carried out, observing how images are interpreted and modified based on their historical, artistic, and cultural context. In this process, the fidelity of the representations has been analyzed in relation to the literary sources on which they are based. Thus, by examining the different iconographic variants and their relationship with the sources, it has been clarified how these variants influenced the evolution of religious imagery and how artists reinterpreted the concept based on the historical and doctrinal contexts in which they were created. Overall, this work invites a deeper understanding of the theme of Christ descending into hell and its connection to the theological, social, and cultural changes over time.

This dissertation is about Joan of Arc, approaching her figure through gender and christian historiography, as well as providing historical data and studies about facts that outline her life: her birth and youth, the key role she played at a particular and complicated point in the Hundred Years’ War, the later trial following her death and posthumous treatment of this character (from a national perspective, ecclesiastical in relation with her beatification and, even, antisemitic). This can be directly related to her influence in literary and cinematic culture. Additionally, a compilation is made of her path and actions in the different battles in which she participated through Geographic Information System (QGIS).

At the end of the Castilian Middle Ages, Fray Lope de Barrientos would write the Tractado de la adivinança to guide Juan II in the administration of justice in his kingdom. Using this work, the Dominican tried helping the king distinguish between lawful practices and superstitious ones, seeking to delegitimize a range of beliefs embedded in popular thought by following orthodox Christian principles. In this study we will analyze Barriento’s treaty as a potential example of antisuperstitious literature in the court of Juan II. For this purpose, we will trace the origins of the antisuperstitious discourse on the Iberian Peninsula up to the context in which Fray Lope developed his work, focusing on his role at court. We will also examine the content of the Tractado de la adivinança itself, concluding with an overview of its legacy in the Spanish antisuperstitious discourse that would fully consolidate in the Modern Age.

Sustainable urban mobility is one of the main concerns of European cities. With the continuous growth of the urban population, air quality continues to deteriorate in these areas. This is often combined with inefficient, uncomfortable or impractical public transport systems that do not sufficiently encourage their use and are unable to meet the existing demand. This situation leads to further issues such as traffic congestion and a shortage of parking spaces. Many cities, facing these challenges, have opted for the implementation of sustainable transport solutions such as the modern tram, or variants like light rail systems. The city of Santiago de Compostela currently has an urban transport system that is often described as inefficient and, in many cases, impractical. Therefore, this project will analyse the implementation and benefits of these modes of transport in various cities across Western Europe, with a particular focus on the French case, a leading country in the revival of the tram. The aim is to assess whether the introduction of such a system could be beneficial for Santiago de Compostela

Therefore, this project will analyse the implementation and benefits of these modes of transport in various cities across Western Europe, with a particular focus on the French case, a leading country in the revival of the tram. Summary
The 1909 Regional Exposition constitutes a major cultural milestone in the contemporary history of Galicia. Held in Santiago de Compostela, coinciding with the celebration of the Holy Year of 1909, its purpose was to demonstrate the degree of advancement of industry, commerce, and the arts throughout Galicia, in communion with the underlying idea of progress. The following paper reviews the Archaeological Section of the Galician Regional Exposition. The Executive Committee of the Archaeological Section was made up of intellectuals, politicians, artists, and prominent figures, both local and foreign, who enthusiastically and altruistically began to construct a Galician history through archaeology. The archaeological discourse simultaneously fostered a discourse of historical affirmation and the construction and legitimization of national identity. Various commissioners traveled to the four Galician provinces, Asturias, Bierzo, Sanabria, Zamora, and northern Portugal, visiting the territory of Gallaecia Vetus to inventory monuments and select pieces of historical, artistic, and archaeological interest to exhibit at the Santiago de Compostela exhibition. In the following article, we analyze and describe the medieval pieces on display and their journey to the present day.

Eusebius of Caesarea’s Political Theology: Towards a Christianization of Power

Summary
Eusebius of Caesarea stands as the author of the first political theology of the Christian Empire, arising in the wake of the conversion of Constantine I the Great. The analysis of the two major compositions in which he formulates it, De Laudibus Constantini and Vita Constantini, shows that his essential contribution lies in the systematic Christianization of principles and concepts originating in pagan philosophy and reworked by the Judeo-Christian tradition, which he rereads through a subordinationalist interpretation of Trinitarian monotheism. Hence, the development of his political theology is structured around two key axes: 1) Constantine as a mimesis of Christ, aimed at a sacralization of the emperor based on his direct divine election and the expression of this in his good governance as both Caesar and Pope, principles intended to be extended to his dynasty in opposition to the tetrarchy; 2) The Roman Empire as an eikón of the Kingdom of Heaven, in which a symbolic identification between Church and Empire is proposed as a figuration of the mystical body of Christ, though without implying the actual realization of the Father’s Kingdom. Based on this development, we argue that Eusebius’s politico-theological architecture is not grounded in a self-serving political scheme, but rather in a theological interpretation of the historical reality of his time.

This final degree project aims to analyze sport during the Franco era not only as a mere spectacle, but also as a tool for nationalization and political propaganda. To do so, it draws on theoretical concepts such as Michel Billings's banal nationalism and its dissemination through media tools such as the press, radio, the NO-DO, and, later, television. Under its control, both team and individual sports were projected a narrative of rage and fatalism that served to exalt the values of the nation and foster identification with it. This instrumentalization of sport also manifested itself in the various political organizations of the Franco regime with a clear ideological and educational purpose. Ultimately, the analysis reveals a whole conglomerate of mechanisms that confirm the dictatorship's use of sport as a nationalizing and legitimizing resource.

This Final Degree Project presents a detailed analysis of the iconography of the Sacrifice of Isaac within Romanesque architecture. It begins with a study of the passage from Genesis 22 itself, which describes the sacrifice of Isaac by his father Abraham. In this case, the intention is to understand the significance of this narrative within Christian culture, also drawing on various texts by patristic authors who have addressed the topic and reinforce its relevance as a prefiguration of Christ's sacrifice. Furthermore, different spaces within Romanesque churches have been analyzed, especially the spaces most accessible to the faithful, or those that have been most relevant to the development of the project. Finally, several artworks in which the Sacrifice of Isaac appears have been studied, focusing on the iconography, context, and location of these representations. This has allowed us to investigate the different meanings that can be acquired depending on the location in certain spaces and the messages intended to be conveyed to the viewer. In this sense, the project reflects the symbolic value of Isaac's sacrifice within Romanesque art, as well as its role within medieval visual discourses.

-Crime has always been something that has attracted the morbid curiosity of societies since the beginning of time. The appearance of the so-called True Crime genre on television and large platforms helped to regulate the genre, terrifying and astonishing society. In recent years we can speak of a progressive degeneration of the genre, with examples as controversial as those of Daniel Sancho. This work will deal with the evolution of crime to the already known True Crime genre, the current process of trivialization and will confront in a brief debate example of good products with others of dubious reputation

This research examines the multidimensional influence of Chinese immigration in Spain, with special emphasis on Galicia and particularly in Santiago de Compostela. Through a mixed methodology combining quantitative and qualitative analysis, including 13 semi-structured interviews conducted with Chinese immigrants in Santiago de Compostela, Madrid, and Padrón, the study analyzes the economic, cultural, and social dynamics of this community. The research reveals how the Chinese community has evolved since its first settlements, developing a significant business presence mainly in sectors such as retail trade and restaurants. The fundamental role of Chinese voluntary associations in cultural mediation and identity preservation is examined, as well as the challenges and opportunities in the social integration process. The study highlights the importance of transnational networks and the formation of bicultural identities, especially in the new generations, thus contributing to a deeper understanding of contemporary migratory dynamics in Spain.

This research employs both quantitative techniques (Census, Municipal Register, IGN) and qualitative methods (interviews). The aim is to highlight the progressive aging of the population and how migratory processes , particularly those involving foreign populations, play key role in balancing this situation by offsetting demographic decline and sustaining growth through positive net migration. The study will examine whether real population growth is linked to increased demand for urban expansion and the challenges this poses in terms of social cohesion and housing access. This research underscores the importance of demographic analyses in today´s context, where modern society is built upon an aging population reliant on immigration. It also explores how urban growth responds to demographic demands, contributing to the understanding of a characteristic geodemographic and urban dynamic in a world undergoing new transformations.
