Complete the student's academic training through interaction with the labor and business world, thereby enhancing both the scientific and technical skills acquired in the mandatory subjects of the degree, as well as their transversal competencies and personal skills.
Know how to incorporate professional values and competencies specific to the field of Industrial Technical Engineering.
The student will undertake internships at a company with which the USC has a prior agreement, in accordance with the External Academic Internships Regulations of the USC: http://hdl.handle.net/10347/13514.
The activities carried out by the student at the company will be properly coordinated and must be conducted within any of the professional areas of Industrial Technical Engineering.
It will depend on the type of internship the student undertakes and its content.
Basic:
CB2 – That students are able to apply their knowledge to their work or vocation in a professional manner and possess the competencies typically demonstrated through the development and defense of arguments and the resolution of problems within their area of study.
General:
CG1 – Ability to draft, sign, and develop projects in the field of Industrial Engineering, specializing in Industrial Chemistry, aimed at the construction, renovation, repair, maintenance, demolition, manufacturing, installation, assembly, or operation of: structures, mechanical equipment, energy facilities, electrical and electronic installations, industrial plants and facilities, and manufacturing and automation processes, in accordance with the knowledge acquired as established in Section 5 of Order CIN/351/2009.
CG2 – Ability to manage the activities involved in the engineering projects described in competency CG1.
CG3 – Knowledge in basic and technological subjects, enabling the learning of new methods and theories, and providing the versatility to adapt to new situations.
CG11 – Knowledge, understanding, and ability to apply the necessary legislation for practicing the profession of Industrial Technical Engineer.
Transversal:
CT3 – Ability to manage information.
CT4 – Ability to work in teams.
CT5 – Demonstrate ethical commitment.

Elective Subject:
CEOP13 – Professional internships, with a final competency assessment, that allow students to incorporate the professional values and competencies specific to the field of Industrial Technical Engineering.
In the company internships, under the supervision of the external tutor, the student must develop the training project established in the internship agreement. The functions, rights, and duties of the students and tutors are outlined in the External Academic Internships Regulations of the USC: http://hdl.handle.net/10347/13514.
The evaluation system will be exactly the same regardless of the teaching modality used (in-person or virtual), with the only difference being that the evaluation activities will be carried out, as determined by the competent authorities, either in person at the company or remotely through the telematic means available at the USC and the company.
In cases of fraudulent completion of assignments or exams, the provisions established in the “Regulations on the Assessment of Academic Performance and Review of Grades” will apply.
The evaluation of the competencies acquired during the external internships will be carried out in accordance with the general external internship regulations of the University of Santiago de Compostela and the Call for External Academic Internships for students of the Bachelor's degree in Industrial Chemical Process Engineering:
- 50% of the grade will be assigned by the external tutor based on the scores of the items listed in the corresponding annex of the call.
- 50% of the grade will be assigned by the academic tutor after evaluating the final report submitted by the student and based on the items listed in the corresponding annex of the call.
The training activity consists of 12 ECTS credits (300 total hours), distributed as follows according to the current curriculum:
Internships: 240 in-person hours.
Internship report: 40 hours of student work.
Individual tutoring sessions: 10 in-person hours and 10 hours of student work.
The language of instruction will be in accordance with the official languages of the Autonomous Community.
Regulations on Data Protection and Use of Images in Academic Work and External Internships
According to the Rectoral Resolution on the procedure for prior evaluation of academic work involving human participation, sample collection, or processing of personal data, Final Degree Projects (TFG), Master's Theses (TFM), as well as external internships and the Practicum, must strictly comply with current data protection regulations.
This means that students must:
• Clearly identify what personal data is being collected and for what purpose.
• Obtain the necessary consent from the individuals involved.
• Ensure the confidentiality and security of the processed information.
• Respect the rights of the participants at all times.
In any case, if the academic work or internship involves processing personal data, it is mandatory to obtain a favorable report from the USC Bioethics Committee. To do so, students must first submit a request for evaluation to the Preliminary Evaluation Committee for Academic Work at the Faculty of Sciences.
Protection of Personal Image and Use of Audiovisual Content
• It is prohibited to take photographs or record videos of individuals or facilities without the explicit authorization of the host institution.
• Even with prior authorization, images or videos must not allow the identification of minors or professionals (for example, they must be taken from behind or only show hands).
• It is strictly forbidden to publish any audiovisual material or information about minors or educational centers on social media or any other platform, beyond what is included in the Final Report.
