Once the subject is passed, the student will be able to do a bibliographic search in English and understand the localized article.
- Theoretical
- Practice with individual students' personal work and by homogeneous groups
- The information referring to scenarios 2 and 3 appears in the "Observations" section.
The evaluation will be carried out in two well differentiated parts. The general part of the English language taught by specialist English language teachers and the specific part taught by the coordinator of the dental degree subject.
In each part (general and specific), it will be evaluated according to the following average:
- Class attendance 25%
- Active participation and individual / group work 25%
- Final theoretical exam 50%
The examination of the general part will correspond to linguistic aspects proper. The examination of the specific part will be based on the questions derived from the analysis of a scientific text.
- The information referring to scenarios 2 and 3 appears in the "Observations" section.
Enough to achieve the objectives set
Class attendance. Participate in class. During the distance training period, it is recommended to consult the Team and the virtual Campus daily to carry out the tasks that the teachers consider appropriate, which will also allow monitoring for continuous assessment based on active participation.
Contingency Plan
Scenario 2.
- In scenario 2, all the training activities planned in scenario 1 will be carried out. Expository teaching will preferably be non-face-to-face. The activities in groups that are part of the continuous assessment will be carried out in person but with capacities reduced to 70%, so that the active participating groups, the students with connection problems do so in person and the passive participating students follow the synchronous telematic activities. In relation to the final evaluation test (50% of the total), it will be carried out in person in a classroom that ensures the minimum distance of 1.5 meters between students and following the individual protection measures approved in the corresponding protocols.
- The physical bibliography will be replaced by free online dictionaries for remote training.

Scenario 3. It is a non-classroom teaching in all senses.
- Virtual teaching will be carried out through the official channels of the USC and all those authorized to comply with the LOPD: Microsoft Teams (“Technical English for Dentistry), Moodle and Skype.
- During non-face-to-face teaching, the work dedicated to oral presentation by groups of a topic of dental content, due to confinement measures, must be carried out individually. Each student will make a video in which they present the topic they have chosen, and the power point / PDF / Prezi presentation they have used can be seen simultaneously on the screen. As indicated in the presentation session, the duration will be between 6-8 minutes, and it must be sent (only PDF) through the virtual campus before the date previously indicated.
- The Microsoft Teams (Technical English for Dentistry) and the virtual Campus will be the official means of communication, as well as the e-mail of the teaching staff that is available to students on the usc website.
- During the distance training period, it is recommended to consult Teams and the Virtual Campus daily to carry out the tasks that the teachers of the subject consider appropriate, which will also allow for monitoring for continuous assessment based on active participation.
- The evaluation of the academic year as a consequence of the Suspension of the Face-to-Face Teaching will follow the mixed or combined evaluation method: face-to-face (physical or telematic with record of activity in Teams), continuous evaluation (individual or group activities) and final test.
- The physical bibliography will be replaced by free online dictionaries for remote training.

- Continuous evaluation of attendance (up to the state of alarm) and scheduled activities (exercises in the virtual campus of the general part and power point presentations with defenses in the specific part).
- A final exam, by Microsoft Teams, in real time (the camera is not necessary), with a scientific text on which questions will be asked. Within 1 hour they must send a PDF document to the virtual campus or to the email with the answers. In case of bad or lack of connection by one of the students, an alternative text will be sent with different questions when the problem is solved under the same conditions as the rest of the students.
- The final assessment will be 25% face-to-face (physical or telematic), 25% continuous assessment and 50% exam.
Scenarios 1 and 2 will be carried out if USC provides the appropriate physical and technological means to achieve it.
