This course is intended essentially for the student to obtain an insight into the possibilities of application of knowledge of applied psychology to the field of sport and physical activity.
History and current status of the psychology of sport and physical exercise.
Personality, psysical exercise and sport.
Motivation and sport.
Arousal, anxiety and stress.
The use of reinforcements in sport settings.
The dynamic of sport teams.
The process of communication in the sport settings.

Specific competences of the subject:
(A) Knowledge (know and understand ...)
1. Mainstream psychology of sport and physical activity to the understanding, evaluation and explanation of sporting behavior.
2. Know and understand the importance of the basic psychological processes such as concentration, activation, motivation and self-confidence in sports performance.
3. Know and understand the psychosocial principles involved in the behavior of people in the sport context (leadership, communication, team leadership, team building, group dynamics).
4. Know and understand the methods, designs and data analysis techniques used in the psychology of physical activity and sport.
5. Know and understand the tools and strategies for assessment and rehabilitation in the field of physical activity and sport.
B) Skills and abilities
6. Identified by systematic observation, psychological testing and interviews the needs and demands of athletes and sporting context and setting targets of psychological intervention.
7. Identify the relevant characteristics of sporty handling individual and group level by using methods, techniques and tools specific to the psychology of sport and physical activity
8. Knowing promote a healthy lifestyle to reach the entire life of the athlete.
9. Administer the various instruments available specific to the psychology of physical activity and sport.
10. Know how to transmit to athletes, sports coaches and sports officials the results of psychological assessment.
11. Know reporting on psychological aspects relevant to the field of sport and physical activity and know how to communicate to their own athletes, sports technicians and sports leaders.
12. Awareness of the Obligation to always respect the ethical principles of psychology in professional development.
Try to develop the program through three channels: lectures, the interactive lectures, and individual and group tutorials. All perspectives are complementary and allow individual training but also teamwork.
The lectures consist of demonstrations of theoretical content of the subject.
In order to deepen and reinforce the exposed contents, interactive classes are contemplated that favor the acquisition of the specific competences of the subject, as well as meaningful learning. In addition, these practical classes are intended for the student to acquire the procedural and research skills of the subject.
The tutorials are a direct and face-to-face relationship, for continuous advice and in-depth study of the theoretical and practical contents of the student's work, as well as to answer questions.
The assessment in this matter is fundamentally formative, and will be continuous, testing each bit time as the contents are being made in both the lecture and interactive sessions. There is therefore the possibility of obtaining a high note with no final exam. The final exam is reserved for those students who did not participate in formative assessment, those who want to overcome the note or those who were in an exchange program during the course and could not attend and participate in the activities of the matter. Besides the results of continuous assessment tests may be obtained by theoretical points or field reports and participation in group activities carried out both expository and interactive sessions.
More particularly, the competences 1-3 will be evaluated by test questions followed by four answers to choose the right one and competences 4-12 through practical reports, participation in group discussions, support, exhibition of work or application of methods, designs and data analysis techniques specific to the psychology of physical activity and sport.
The final exam will consist of a type test questions followed by four answers to choose the right one.
For cases of fraudulent performance of exercises or tests, the provisions of the Regulations for the evaluation of the academic performance of students and the review of grades will be applied.
An average of 1 hour daily for reading, reviewing notes or reporting practices or field may be sufficient.
We will follow the Weinberg and Gould (2007) Handbook and work with the class notes for tests and formative assessment. It is recommended the continuity in the assistance and participation in the lectures and interactive sessions.
Depending on the health situation, the recommendations for the study of the subject may undergo changes that allow it to be adapted to telematic or semi-face-to-face teaching scenarios. It will be reported through the USC Virtual Campus.
Contingency plan
Scenario 2: Distancing
In this scenario, with regard to the teaching methodology, the classes will be taught in person and virtually, using the Microsoft Teams platform and the support of the USC virtual campus. In all, teaching will be developed synchronously and the face-to-face modality will prevail whenever possible. The content and development of the lectures will be the same as in the face-to-face mode, adapting the support materials to the remote mode. In the case of interactive sessions, these will preferably be carried out in person (at least 50% of the hours), following the same methodology as in scenario 1, combining individual and group tasks. The tutorials will preferably be carried out electronically through the TEAMS platform. For its part, the evaluation system will be similar to that established in scenario 1, respecting the weighting established there, and preferably in person for the examination.
Scenario 3: Closure of facilities
Regarding the teaching methodology, the expository and interactive teaching will be virtual, using the TEAMS platform and the USC Virtual Campus. In the case of the exhibition sessions, their content will be the same as in the previous scenarios. As for the interactive sessions, the content will be adapted so that the students can do them in a non-face-to-face way. In any case, teaching will take place synchronously. The necessary materials will be provided through the USC Virtual Campus. The tutorials will take place in a totally virtual way through the TEAMS platform. In relation to the learning evaluation system, this will be analogous to that indicated for scenarios 1 and 2 (the same weighting will be respected in the grade), except that the exam is carried out in a non-face-to-face way through the TEAMS platform and the campus virtual of the USC.
In the same way that happened in scenario 1, also in scenarios 2 and 3 for cases of fraudulent completion of exercises or tests, the provisions of the Regulations for the evaluation of the academic performance of students and for the review of grades will apply.
