1. To acquire the appropriate methodological tools in order to interpret the artistic phenomenon.
2. To become familiar with the richness of the sources involved in the research process and discriminating those suitable for the own subject of study.
3. To improve the written expression, the scientific structuring of a text, the approach of conclusions and the correct bibliographic citation.
4. To improve oral presentations and the ability to communicate information and ideas through knowledge of the expressive techniques.
5. To know the legal regulations that protect the conservation of patrimonial heritage.
The teaching-learning methodology is theoretical-practical, resulting from the combination of:
1. Face-to-face training activities:
1.1. Master classes dedicated to the explanation and understanding of the contents under study. They will be taught by the teacher, who will request the active participation of the students. For the explanations, a master class format with technological resources (audio-visual and computers) will be used.
1.2. Interactive lessons dedicated to the reading and commentary of texts, exercises and practical analysis of different computer tools and electronic resources, applying the concepts studied in the master classes. The sessions will be guided by the teacher but will based on the active participation of the students.
1.3. Tutorials in small and individualized groups: in them, students will be offered guidance for the monitoring of the subject, as well as bibliographic and methodological guidelines for the realization of the written essays and exercises.
2. Non-face-to-face training activities: Preparation of small individual or collective activities or essays (critical comments, reviews, search for information, resolution of exercises ...), according to the request of the teacher. These works may be exhibited and/or presented in the classroom. The delivery dates will be marked by the teacher in the face-to-face classes, always fixed within the teaching period of the subject.
3. Field practice: Whenever possible, it is contemplated to leave the classroom to carry out visits to certain centres in Santiago de Compostela such as archives and libraries, giving priority to the subject hour distribution, but taking into account the particular opening hours of the mentioned centres.
• Evaluation:
• The evaluation will be continuous. The final grade will be the result of the sum of two scores with the following percentages:
- Face-to-face activities (master classes and interactive lessons): They will represent 40% of the total qualification. All students must attend and participate in the face-to-face lessons, both master classes and interactive lessons. Attendance, active participation, oral intervention, interest shown and prior preparation of the topics to be discussed —indicated in advance by the teacher— will be assessed.
- Non-face-to-face activities: They will represent 60% of the total qualification. All students must submit a series of individual or collective activities and essays (critical comments, reviews, search for information, resolution of exercises ...), according to the request of the teacher. The capacity of planning and organization of the work, the written expression, the order, the search of sources, the correct bibliographic citation, and the formulation of critical conclusions will be assessed.
• To pass the subject with continuous evaluation it will be necessary to pass the two separate sections with a minimum score of 5/10. Continuous evaluation will be lost due to the non-attendance or non-intervention in face-to-face activities (master classes and interactive), and/or due to the non-delivery of the written exercises and essays in the established time. In both cases, the subject is considered failed.
- Failed face-to-face activities (master classes and interactive lessons): This part is considered failed if the student has an unjustified absence greater than 30% of the hours of attendance (master classes and interactive lessons), and/or if she/he does not participate in the activities proposed in the interactive classes.
- Failed face-to-face activities (written essays and exercises): This part will be considered failed if the student does not deliver more than 30% of the activities required by the teacher, or if those delivered activities lack the quality expected and explained in advance by the teacher.
• If the student is exempt from attendance by granting a waiver, according to the criteria stipulated in the regulations of the USC (according to Instruction No. 1/2017 of the General Secretariat on the dispensation of class attendance in certain circumstances), she/he will be evaluated with a specific written exam that will represent 100% of the qualification.
• Students who have to repeat this subject due to failed it in a previous course, will be submitted to the same evaluation criteria as in the common case, although they will be exempt from attending classes in case they had passed that continuous evaluation in the corresponding last year, having to deliver just the practical works according to the characteristics and dates of the common system. On the contrary, if she/he has already delivered and pass the written works and essays, she/he must only pass the continuous evaluation through the attendance and active participation in the face-to-face classes (master classes + interactive lessons).
Face-to-face: 24 hours (master classes: 9 hours, interactive lessons: 12 hours, tutorials: 3 hours).
Non-face-to-face: 51 hours (preparation of the exhibition sessions: 18 hours, preparation of the interactive sessions: 24 hours, non-face-to-face tutorials: 9 hours).
Total: 75 hours.
For a good follow-up of the subject, it is essential to have motivation and work capacity, attending the face-to-face sessions and fulfilling the non-face-to-face activities in the established times. We recommend that the student consult the bibliography proposed in the program, and that he attends the tutorials whenever he needs it. It would be convenient for the student to have the ability to read in a foreign language, in addition to basic computer skills.
- Attention to diversity: Royal Legislative Decree 1/2013 of November 29th, which approves the “Consolidated Text of the General Law on the rights of people with disabilities and their social inclusion”, published in the BOE (December the 3rd, 2013) will be applied.
- Fraudulent performance of tests: the stipulation of the USC regulations regarding “Evaluation of the academic performance of students and review of qualifications” published in the DOGA (July the 21st, 2011) will be applied.
