The skills to be developed, according to the master report are:
General: CB8, CG4, CG11, CG12, CG13, CG15.
Specific: CE1, CE5, CE6, CE9, CE12.
Transversal: CT1, CT3, CT4, CT5, CT6.
The following competences will be worked with the highest incidence: CG4, CG12, CE5, CE9, CT3, CT6.
Scenario 1 (in person)
Students of this subject will lead groups of 3 to 4 students from first years of the Chemical Engineering degree in the development of a project (3 ECTS activity offered in Aula Profesional).
The lectures (at the beginning of the course) are focused on the aims and necessary concepts to apply to engineering project management. (CB8, CE5, CE9).
The goals to carry out the project direction using software (project management, Gantt Project/MS Project, technical calculations, Excel, property databases, HYSYS, etc.) will be exposed in computer lab. (CT3, CT4, CE5, CE12).
Students will choose the components of the groups to lead, decide the issue to develop and lead the group to develop the project (mass and energy balances for a process with consideration of thermodynamic aspects, chemical reaction, security, economic, environmental ...). The seminars will be held under the supervision of the professors (evaluation of the student as project manager) or without supervision (groups under the master student direction). (CE6, CG11, CG12, CG13, CG15, CT1, CT3, CT4, CT5, CT6 CT6).
A mid-semester group tutorial to detect strengths and weaknesses correction of project managers is planned.
The student may also query by individualized tutoring in the established schedule.
Virtual Campus will be used as a tool to support teaching.
Activities timetable:
1st week (3 h):
Lectures: Course presentation. Project management. Functions of the director.
2nd week (2 h):
Lectures: Organization: activities and resources. Project administration and control (I).
3rd week (4 h):
Lectures (2 h): Project administration and control (II).
Computer lab: (2 h): Tools.
Seminars: Project development.
Weeks remaining (2 h average):
Seminars: Project development.
7th week: Group tutorial.
Scenarios 2 (distancing) and 3 (confinement)
All classes will be developed online through MS Teams and Virtual Campus.
The submission of the project report done by degree students is requisite for evaluation.
First assessment will be based on:
- Final project performed by the degree students: 50%
- Memoria do proxecto realizado polos alumnos do grao: 25% da nota
- Quality of management: 25%
- Oral evaluation consisting on the activities and achievements defense: 40%.
- Teacher report based on the continuous assessment in the seminars: 10%
In the case of failure to pass the course in first opportunity, in the second an additional memory will be prompted which will include at least activities and resources diagrams of project based on the experience.
In additional calls, the student must repeat all planned activities.
The skills evaluation will be made as it is indicated by activity in the methodology chapter. The oral exam, along with the Basic Project developed, mainly assesses the competences indicated in lectures and seminaries. (CB8, CE5, CE9, CE12, CT3, CT4).
Transversal skills are evaluated by means fo seminary supervisions and also with specific tests filled by the components of the project group (degree students). (CE6, CG11, CG12, CG13, CG15, CT1, CT3, CT4, CT5, CT6 CT6).
In scenarios 2 and 3, the grading system is maintained. The exam will be carried out online via the Virtual Campus
In cases of fraudulent performance on exercises or tests, USC rules will be applied.
It is a 4.5 ECTS course.
