The student, at the end of this course, will:
- Know How to apply the acquired knowledge and be able to solve the problems associated with the implementation of the same both in the context of the intervention by using biofeedback (BF) and neurofeedback (NF) as in multidisciplinary areas related.
- Be able to expand the knowledge and skills acquired through the study of self-directed and autonomous applications and advances selectedone BF and NF.
- Be able to implement their programming on BF and NF taking into account the biopsychosocial components intrinsic to the concept of holistic health, in accordance with the guidelines established by the WHO.
- Be able to plan, develop, monitor and evaluate plans of assessment and intervention in the field of BF and NF taking into account the physiologic variables, cognitive and emotional (psychophysiological) and their covariance in each particular case, in order to carry out a training in successful psychophysiological self-regulation.
- Have communication skills and managing emotions in the relationship therapist/patient and throughout every step of the intervention program, from the identification of the problem until the monitoring achievements during training in BF or NF.
- Know how to select the mode of BF/NF more appropriate to each case, taking into account the pathophysiology of the psychophysiological alteration and other features of the case arising from the process of evaluation and identification of the problem, and be able to adapt the objectives and goals of the intervention in a flexible manner depending on the process of continuous evaluation of the intervention sessions.
- Know how to consult and manage all existing sources of documentation in the context of research on the effectiveness of the intervention by BF and NF.
Theoretical Contents:
Item 1. Introduction: Biofeedback (BF) and neurofeedback (NF) in Health Psychology.
Item 2: Stress, physiological reactivity profile and psychophysiological alterations.
Item 3: Methods of intervention in psychophysiological alterations in peripheral and central nervous system.
Item 4: Psychophysiological self-regulation of the activity of the peripheral nervous system. Main areas of application of the BF: cardiovascular psychophysiological alterations; problems of the neuromuscular system.
Item 5: NF as a training method in selfr-egulation of electroencephalographic activity (EEG). Main applications.
Practices: Training in biofeedback techniques in laboratory sessions.
Session 1. The process of BF. Introduction to the procedure of assessment and intervention with BF. Operation of the equipment.
Session 2. Evaluation of the activity psicofisioloxica. Psychophysiological reactivity Profile.
Session 3. Demonstration to the customer the procedure of BF.
Session 4. Training in BF.
Session 5. Generalization of what they have learned and fibal evaluation.

12. To be able to plan and develop a psychological intervention, establishing relevant and realistic objectives depending on the nature of the problem and context.
13. To know how to perform a psychologigal intervention follow up according to the initial objectives, an to introduce, if it was the case, changes in the intervention during its development.
14. Knowing how to provide feedback to the clients of appropriate and precise form in order to involve them in the various phases of the process of assessment, intervention and treatment.
The teaching methodology will rest on several activities and classroom courses. Due to the health emergency situation by COVID-19, and following the recommendations of the USC, face-to-face activities will be carried out in a safe environment in which the use of masks and / or screens for facial protection will be mandatory.
As classroom activities, combine the expository method (lectures) on the theoretical content of the subject, with guided practice sessions in the laboratory to be trained to the learners in the procedure of intervention in BF. The teaching of the practical classes, with the highest burden hours, is intended to promote the resolution of problems, problem-based learning, cooperative learning, and instrumental learning.
Non-presential activities by the student do complete the process of learning through the realization of reports on the practical sessions and the realization of the self-assessment questions that are developed for each theoretical subject.
The evaluation, which will be continuous, will rest in a written examination of response for the development of average length/short on the theoretical contents. This review will take a weight of 35% of the total rating obtained in the subject. In addition, it will evaluate the attendance and active participation to all the practice sessions, which scored a 40% of the total grade. The practice reports delivered within the time limit indicated by the professor will score a 15% of the total grade, and the realization of the questions of self-evaluation of all the theoretical topics be scored a 10% of the final grade.

It is recommended that students attend the lectures, because in them is further expanded the information contained in the material of each item, and are treated/discussed in greater depth the aspects of more importance and/or present. Carry out the activities associated with each item, and its revision with the professor, as they enable the progressive learning and a better understanding of the issues. Attend the entirety of the practice sessions, because they facilitate procedural knowledge and basic skills for learning the content associated with the techniques of BF/NF in each one of its modalities more employed.
The contents of this field are within the framework of Clinical psychophysiology, a psychological discipline that is born of the intervention of the Psychophysiology in the field of health, through the implementation of its more developed techniques: biofeedback and the more recent neurofeedback. It is classically defined as "the application of the psychophysiological techniques, concepts and theories, on the explanation of the psychological factors that influence health and disease" (Turpin, 1989). The psychophysiology Clinic has also benefited the development of other disciplines related to the psychological health, as are the techniques of behavior modification, Behavioral Medicine, Health Psychology and psychopathology.
The form of approach to problems related to the health/illness in this discipline is characterized by training in self-regulation of physiological functions related to the peripheral nervous system (electromyographic biofeedback, cardiovascular, respiratory, peripheral temperature, electrodermico) and with the central nervous system (neurofeedback) in the intervention in health-related problems.

In the event that, due to the health situation, restrictions are established in the face-to-face teaching activity, the following adaptations are contemplated in the teaching methodology and in the evaluation system.
Firstly, to inform that, in general, for all the activities carried out in telematic format, the computer platforms to be used will be Microsoft Teams (for video communication) and the Moodle Virtual Campus (for the fulfillment and delivery of tasks and evaluation tests, and for communications through forums, as well as for public tutorials), all this always through the corporate user and without prejudice to the use of email (equally corporate) for simple and individualized communication.
Scenary 2:
Teaching methodology
Since the group of students is small, which will allow to maintain the security of the interpersonal distance, the expository and interactive teaching can be kept in the same capacity as in scenario 1, except that the duration of the sessions will be reduced (120 minutes ) to two 50-minute parts that will be interrupted by a 20-minute break to proceed to ventilate the laboratory where the teaching is given, unless the academic authorities indicate otherwise.
These sessions will be complemented with scheduled group tutorials (synchronous through Teams and asynchronous through "Public tutoring" in the virtual classroom) for the resolution of doubts. Activities (such as short exercises) can be introduced to deepen the content; When these activities require the delivery of material, it will be done through the virtual campus; it will be reported promptly if they will be taken into account for the evaluation of the subject.
In relation to the interactive sessions, they will be modified to avoid parts that require physical contact (for example, placement of electrodes for psychophysiological records). The part that, for this reason, could not be done, will be replaced by graphic or videographic presentations. If the general indications of the organization of this "scenary" for the Faculty so require, some of the sessions could be adapted to a remote (synchronous) teaching format. This could lead to the alteration of the planned order of practices according to the moment of entry into force of this scenario and the forecasts regarding its duration.
AUTONOMOUS WORK BY THE STUDENT: in the same thermos as in scenary 1.
INDIVIDUAL TITORIES: in the same thermos as in scenary 1, will be carried out preferably telematically.
SUPPORT OF SUBJECT THROUGH ICT: as contemplated in scenary 1, get fat or use the Teams platform for class sessions / tutoring remotely.
Methodology of assessment
It will be the same as in scenary 1 adapted to face-to-face or remote modality according to what is available to the Commission of the Title and / or Dean Office of the Faculty: if it is not possible to carry out or examine directly in person, it will be done through Virtual Campus; the type of exam will be the specified for o scenary 1.
Scenary 3:
Teaching methodology
1. In-person expository teaching will be taught by videoconference (synchronous) through Microsoft Teams application. The official time of the subject will be that contmeplated in the time table of the Master.
2. In addition, as you are witnessed, the official tutorial hours will take place (Mon, Tuesday and Sunday, from 12:00 to 14:00) through Microsoft Teams, Virtual Classroom and email.
3. Practical teaching will be replaced by infographic and videographic material (asynchronous) through the Virtual Classroom, and by discussion sessions on procedural issues of clinical application of intervention through BF and NF, which will expose the essential aspects of practical sessions, through Teams (synchronous).
4. The non-presence activities remain without modifications.
5. Lastly, keep up-to-date in the virtual classroom with the content and documents necessary for the correct development of the subject.
Appraisal evaluation system
1. The assessment will be telematic (asynchronous).
2. The weight of the face-to-face exam (35% of the total grade) will be transferred to the completion of one of 2 assessment questions for each of the five theoretical topics of the subject that will be available in the Virtual Classroom for all students enrolled. The total of 5 questions selected by each student should be sent to the teacher at the date and time indicated in the Virtual Classroom.
3. A valuation of the practices (55% of the total grade) will be based on attendance at the synchronous sessions through Teams and the completion of the reports that are requested on or asynchronous material loaded in the Virtual Classroom.
4. A voluntary completion of all the self-assessment questions of each topic will continue to score as scenaries 1 and 2 (10% of total grade).
