Introduce students to the management of bioinformatics tools, including some that will be used in the different subjects of the master.
1. Bioinformatics databases and search tools.
Genomic databases. Alignment of two sequences.
Software: FASTA, BLAST
2. Sequence alignment and phylogeny.
Multiple sequence alignment. Phylogeny from a distance matrix.
Software: CLUSTAL
3. Genome analysis.
4. Databases GO and KEGG.

Salemi, M. & Vandamme A. (Ed.) The Phylogenetic Handbook, Cambridge University Press, 2003, UK.
Stekel, Dov, Microarray Bioinformatics, Cambridge University Press, 2003, UK.
1. Use BLAST to search for sequences in databases, align with CLUSTAL and (where appropriate) to a phylogenetic analysis of the same.
2. Using databases to GO and KEGG functional annotation.
On-line teaching through the virtual course of the subject and MS Teams.
For this purpose, the virtual course will be used with bibliographic and didactic materials and/or virtual classes through Teams or other telematic tools will be available.
Tutorials by email or MS Teams.
A final test will be carried out by telematic means.
about three hours every week
Contingency plan
Adaptation of the methodology to Scenarios 2 and 3
SCENARIO 2 (distancing):
Partially virtual teaching, in the necessary terms. For this purpose, the virtual course will be used with bibliographic and didactic materials, and/or synchronous virtual classes through Teams or other telematic tools will be available.
The tutorials will be attended by email or through MS Teams.
SCENARIO 3 (closure of the facilities):
On-line teaching through the virtual course of the subject and MS Teams.
For this purpose, the virtual course will be used with bibliographic and didactic materials and/or virtual classes through Teams or other telematic tools will be available.
