Master ChemBio&Mat

It is now possible to apply for admission to the next edition of the Master in Chemistry at the Interface with Biology and Materials Science (Master ChemBio&Mat), a unique programme for those students who wish to deepen knowledge in science at the boundaries between chemistry, biology and molecular materials. The first deadline to apply is July 20th.

Many of the scientific and technological challenges we face today must be addressed from multidisciplinary perspective. In this regard, ChemBio&Mat provide students with specific training in the field of molecular sciences, and their interface with biomedicine and materials science. The study plan, taught entirely in English, also highlights the quality of its professors. In fact, the teaching staff holds 11 European Research Council (ERC) projects, one of the most prestigious grants in science. ChemBio&Mat is the first degree course linked to a Singular Research Centre of the Galician University System, thus enhancing the practical and experimental nature of the programme.

In ChemBio&Mat students carry out their lab work at CiQUS facilities, learning cutting-edge instrumental techniques along with the research groups. This practical dimension of the plan enables students to start a scientific career or join the labour market, as it provides them a profile suited to face the current challenges. In addition, CiQUS will renew its commitment to young talent through a programme devoted to support the start of the research path by offering part-time contracts. Travel allowances will be also available this year to cover mobility costs for those students coming from abroad

The study plan has a duration of 1.5 years to be completed in 3 semesters. A total of 90 ECTS that facilitates validation at European level and international mobility. Students will complete their training by carrying out a final Master's Research Project (TFM) within the framework of one of the centre's strategic lines: Biological and Medical Chemistry, Functional Materials with Technological Application or Synthetic Technologies for Sustainable Development.

In its third edition, ChemBio&Mat offers a total of 20 positions and applicants must hold a BsC degree in Chemistry or related discipline (Pharmacy, Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering, Physics, etc.) as well as the English B1 level. Applications must be submitted electronically through the website of the Universidade de Santiago de Compostela.
